The Charlotte Observer confirms that the Panthers have no interest in free agent Plaxico Burress. Burress made an honorable attempt to spark interest by publicly making his own known in Carolina, but this match isn't happening. The Panthers seem content with youngsters Brandon LaFell, David Gettis, and Joe Adams behind Steve Smith. Burress may not find a new team until injuries strike at wide receiver in camp.

The Panthers haven't made contact with free agent WR Plaxico Burress. In a radio interview with WFNZ in Charlotte Monday, Burress said he wants to play for the Panthers in 2012. "My brother lives right there in Charlotte, my cousin lives there in Charlotte, and all my family is there in Columbia, South Carolina. ... Not just that, but playing with Cam, who I think is one of the top five quarterbacks in all of football," Burress said. "I just think it's a great situation." There's no reason to think the Panthers agree.

Free agent Plaxico Burress insists he's received strong interest this offseason, but he's waiting for the "right fit." Color us skeptical. Plaxico has made the rounds all offseason, stumping for interest in multiple NFL locales. As of yet, the soon-to-be 35-year-old hasn't made a reported free agent visit. In an interview with a Charlotte radio station, Burress now says the Panthers are his preferred destination due to family ties in the area as well as the opportunity to play with Cam Newton and Steve Smith. We've seen nothing to suggest there's a mutual interest.

According to the Miami Herald, free agent Plaxico Burress would "love" to work out for the Dolphins. Burress hasn't made any visits, so he'd probably like to try out anywhere at this point. His agent must have let slip that he's particularly interested in the Dolphins, however. Miami has frightfully little veteran depth at receiver, but considering Plax before letting things play out for at least a few weeks in camp would make little sense.

Coach Andy Reid downplayed the Eagles' interest in free agent WR Plaxico Burress. "Right now that's not where we're at," said Reid. The wording suggests the Eagles could reconsider Burress if they don't add a receiver in the draft. The team may also be waiting for Plaxico's price to drop.

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora confirms the Eagles remain in contact with several teams, including the Eagles. Plaxico has made it known that he wants to play for the Eagles this season. The best wideouts remaining on the market are Burress, Braylon Edwards, Jerricho Cotchery, Lee Evans, Ted Ginn, and Early Doucet.

ESPN's Adam Schefter calls Philadelphia the "team to watch" regarding free agent Plaxico Burress. Burress' market has been quiet so far, which is hardly a surprise after he held the Jets offense back last season. As Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. put it, Plaxico now "runs like he has a piano on his back." He would be a fourth receiver and situational red-zone threat with the Eagles.

Free agent Plaxico Burress lists the Eagles, Giants, Steelers, and Jets as teams he's interested in playing for in 2012. Plaxico may have to accept a minimum salary to his teams of choice. We suspect the cap-strapped Steelers prefer Jerricho Cotchery. The Eagles already have their top three receivers written in ink. The Jets have made it clear that they're moving on, and the Giants' head coach isn't particularly fond of Burress.

Yahoo's Jason Cole reports that the Steelers and Giants both "could make a play" for free agent Plaxico Burress. It sounds like Cole is getting his information from agents, so take these reports with a grain of salt. Burress could compete with Ramses Barden and Jerrel Jernigan for the Giants' third receiver job. The Steelers would view him as a reserve as well, with the ability to help in the red zone and on third downs.
