Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald "doesn't see" the Dolphins making a move for free agent Plaxico Burress. As Salguero notes, the Dolphins just traded Brandon Marshall and cut Chad Ochocinco. They probably don't want to deal with another headcase receiver, this one with clearly declining skills. Attempting to trade for James Jones, who knows Joe Philbin's scheme, might be the Dolphins' best bet at this point. Although Jones may not be on the trade block at the moment with Greg Jennings recovering slower-than-anticipated from his early-August concussion.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Plaxico Burress is on his way to New England to work out for the Patriots. The Patriots already have a logjam at wide receiver, so this could simply be due diligence. If Burress latches on, both Deion Branch and Donte' Stallworth could be out. The three would likely be competing for one roster spot. Even if he sticks, the 35-year-old Burress wouldn't see more than a handful of snaps each game.

The Cowboys have free agent WR Plaxico Burress "high on their list" in the event of an injury, a source tells Profootballtalk.com. The Cowboys aren't going to sign Plaxico now, but they've reportedly been in "exploratory" contact with agent Drew Rosenhaus. If Miles Austin's hamstring injury worsens or if Dez Bryant has more off-field issues, talks could very well heat up. Plaxico, who turns 35 on Sunday, is willing to play for the league minimum now.

The Cowboys reportedly "aren't even thinking about" signing free agent Plaxico Burress. Executive VP Stephen Jones' public response was that the team would consider Plax and other veterans if none of the young receivers on the roster step up over the next month. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, however, that Plax's camp has touched base with the team. No signing is imminent.

Free agent Plaxico Burress has reportedly lowered his contractual demands and is now willing to play for the league minimum. He's willing to sign a one-year deal for under $1 million. Interest in Plax might pick up after this news leaks, but he'll still be viewed as a fallback, last-resort options for teams looking at younger, more explosive in-house options.

Steelers GM Kevin Colbert shot down speculation that the team may be interested in a reunion with free agent Plaxico Burress. "Yeah, not really," replied Colbert when asked about a potential signing. Colbert suggested the Steelers are more likely to be interested in wide receivers available after final cuts in early September.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, free agent Plaxico Burress wants "too much money." We would have guessed Burress was in Terrell Owens territory by now - where he would take the first job that was offered to him - but that's apparently not the case. It surely has something to do with the $59,241 in back taxes Burress reportedly owes the state of New York. If Burress is serious about playing in 2012, however, he won't be able to hold out for top dollar for much longer. We doubt he's actually turned down any contracts.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, free agent Plaxico Burress is "in shape." Burress' fitness can be crossed off the list of reasons he's yet to land a workout since his Jets deal expired. If Burress is going to draw any interest this summer, it likely won't be until after teams have one or two preseason games to evaluate their receiver corps.

Despite Riley Cooper's questionable status for Week 1, coach Andy Reid says the Eagles will not sign a veteran replacement. It sounds like the Eagles are no longer considering the services of Plaxico Burress - a player they showed heavy interest in last offseason. Instead, the coaching staff will look to the youth currently on the roster. Marvin McNutt and Damaris Johnson are the front runners to emerge, but Ron Johnson, Mardy Gilyard, Elvis Akpla, and Tiger Jones should be monitored.

Free agent Plaxico Burress remains hopeful of playing this season. "I'm just waiting for my phone to ring," Plax admitted Saturday. Burress also said "nothing would make (him) happier" than playing for the Eagles. Plax has yet to even land a workout since the beginning of free agency, so he may not be high on the list of potential late-camp additions for receiver-needy teams.
