Travis Zajac's return to the lineup from an Achilles tendon injury during the late stages of the regular season has helped the Devils tremendously in their run to the Stanley Cup Finals. "To get him back was like making a blockbuster trade and not having to give up anything for him," said New Jersey defenseman Bryce Salvador. "To get a No. 1 center back right when you're making a run, you can't put a value on it and it didn't take him too long to get back to form." Zajac had only six points in 15 games because of an injury-shortened season, but he has been a significant contributor in the playoffs with seven goals and 12 points in 18 contests.

He was set up beautifully on a 2-on-1 break by Devils captain Zach Parise at the 11:59 mark of the first period. Travis Zajac has been a force for New Jersey in the postseason after missing the majority of the 2011-12 campaign due to an Achilles tendon injury. He has notched a team-leading five goals and eight points in nine playoff games after skating in just 15 games for the Devils during the regular season. It's amazing to think that he nearly shut himself down for the rest of the year after he had a setback in early January. Zajac said that his progress afterward encouraged him enough to expect a better return in his second comeback attempt. The Devils and his fantasy owners are reaping those rewards now.

Travis Zajac enjoyed a two-point night in the New Jersey Devils' 4-0 blanking of the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of their opening-round series Thursday. Battling back from an Achilles tendon tear, the young center endured a curtailed season, putting up six points in 15 games. He's showing his importance now, though, as his goal and assist give him four points in these playoffs. Zach Parise scored his second of the postseason in the second. New Jersey potted three goals in the third period: the first one by Steve Bernier and Zajac's came 96 seconds apart. Ilya Kovalchuk also found the twine, with his second of the playoffs on the power play. Bryce Salvador had two assists, while David Clarkson had an assist, 12 penalty minutes and was a plus-one.

Rookie Adam Henrique took his spot between Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk and Zajac joined wingers Alexei Ponikarovsky and David Clarkson. The switch paid off for both lines, as Henrique assisted on Kovalchuk's first tally of the series.
