Torey Krug recorded his fifth goal of the year in Boston's shootout loss to Dallas on Tuesday night. The offensive rearguard has eight points and a plus-2 rating in 14 games this season. Former Stars forward Reilly Smith picked up an assist on Krug's marker.

Torey Krug scored a pair of goals for the Bruins in a 5-2 dismantling of Buffalo Wednesday night. The diminutive blueliner has seen a great deal of action on a Bruins power play that has struggled for the past few seasons. MIlan Lucic also recorded a pair of goals in the Boston victory while Dougie Hamilton found the back of the net as well.

Torey Krug's mobility and playmaking ability is expected to help Boston's power play this season. Krug's arrival has allowed the Bruins to put Zdeno Chara in front of the net to screen the opposition's goalie and the team has other forwards who can create havoc around the zone as well. "We have a lot of different skill-sets on the power play," he said. "There's (David) Krejci and his vision and skill; Iggy's one-timer; (Milan Lucic's) ability to shoot the puck and battle down low; and then obviously Z can do all of that. There's a lot of different players on the power play, but we're having a lot of fun with it, moving the puck around and always trying to get better." Krug picked up two power-play points against Detroit last Saturday.

Torey Krug had a goal and an assist in Boston's 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. Both of Krug's points were collected with the man advantage. The blueliner also tied for the game-high with five shots on goal.

Torey Krug contributed three assists on Monday in a 6-3 preseason win over Montreal. He earned two of those assists on the power play. His offensive skills would certainly help Boston's back end, but his defensive work could still hold him back as far as getting a roster spot

Torey Krug has the right attitude entering training camp. He understands that he doesn't have a job on the Boston Bruins locked up, but he's confident that he can earn one. "You prepare all summer, and I have confidence that I'm going to pass all the tests and do better than I did last year," he said. "But there's just something about it, with management and coaching staff watching the tests, it just adds that little element to it." Matt Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton will be competing with Krug for two top-six spots with the Bruins to start the 2013-14 season.

Torey Krug's offseason training put an emphasis on skating. "Last spring I had the mindset that I needed to get bigger to play at this level, and to get bigger and stronger. This summer the focus was about explosiveness. My game is having that explosive skating and really being quick with that first three or four steps," said Krug. "It's always also about getting stronger, so I can continue to battle with those guys in front." Krug has only played in three regular season NHL games, but he's expected to make the Bruins out of training camp after his strong showing during Boston's 2013 playoff run.

Torey Krug has high expectations for himself this season. The 22-year-old defenseman, who had considerable success with the Bruins during the playoffs last season, expects to be in Boston come opening night and contribute as he did against the Rangers in the post-season scoring four goals. "Making the NHL roster cut is what I expect. That's what I want to do and that's my goal," said Krug. "My goal is to be on the team opening night and through the season. Management makes that decision, so I just my head down and let them do what they do." We like Krug as a late-round sleeper pick. He has the potential to be a 25-30 point player in 2013-14.

Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said that he's pleased with the "freshness" displayed by his team's defense. It's likely that he would agree that Dougie Hamilton and Torey Krug lead the charge in that department. "I'm okay with it and we do have a different look to our D. There is a freshness, a young look to it. If things aren't working out as the season progresses I may look into that, but I'm okay with it," Chiarelli said. "What I saw with these guys is there's going to be some bumps along the road.

Torey Krug's gaffe that led to a Chicago goal in Game 1 of the Stanely Cup final was all but forgotten at Friday's practice. He took a regular shift on the Bruin's third defenseman pairing with Adam McQuaid and will be in the lineup Saturday night. We think Krug is a talent and worth drafting late in pools next season.
