Torey Krug scored a goal in Boston's 4-3 overtime loss to Montreal in Game 1 of their second round playoff series Thursday. Krug made a name for himself in hockey circles last spring when he played hero for the Bruins by adding life to a fledgling power play and he has followed that up with an even better start to this postseason. With six points in as many games so far, he leads the Bs in scoring this spring. Johnny Boychuk and Reilly Smith also tallied for Boston in the defeat while Brad Marchand registered a pair of assists.

Torey Krug recorded two assists in the Bruins' 4-2 win against Detroit in Game 5. Krug had a goal and five points in five contests in the first round. That was good enough to tie with Patrice Bergeron for the Bruins scoring lead for that series. Krug broke out this season with 40 points in 79 contests.

We imagine he will pretty motivated Saturday to show that he shouldn't be in the rotation to be scratched.

He has things to work on like everybody else." The Bruins have eight defensemen to juggle and someone who deserves to play is likely to sit until the team finds the right mix for the postseason.

The offensive defenseman is tied for fourth, with Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele, among rookie scorers in 2013-14 with 34 points in 58 games. Krug also leads all first-year players with 18 power-play points this campaign.
