Tomas Vokoun (flu) will be Washington's starting goaltender on Friday. Vokoun missed Sunday and Monday's games due to the ailment. He has a 2.45 GAA and .920 save percentage in 40 games this season.

Tomas Vokoun should be considered very doubtful on Monday because of the flu. The Capitals have already called up goaltender Braden Holtby. Vokoun should be considered day-to-day.

Tomas Vokoun (illness) might not be healthy enough to serve as the starter or backup on Monday. Capitals coach Dale Hunter said that Vokoun is "better but it's one of those things that tonight will be a game-time decision." The Capitals will wait before deciding if they need to call up a goaltender. We doubt Vokoun will start on Monday, but we can't completely rule it out either.

Tomas Vokoun had been slated to start Sunday's match-up against the Eastern Conference leading New York Rangers, but he was feeling under the weather so Michal Neuvirth played instead. Vokoun played the warmup as if he was getting the call, but he wasn't 100 percent according to coach Dale Hunter. Neuvirth, who was making his first start since Feb. 1, made 25 saves in Washington's 3-2 loss. It's unclear if Vokoun will be well enough to face San Jose on Monday at this time.

Tomas Vokoun allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Capitals' 3-2 shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets Thursday night. Vokoun has grabbed a hold of the starting job in Washington after struggling through most of the first half of the 2011-12 season. For the first time since the days of Olaf Kolzig, Washington now boasts an established true number-one goalie. With the shootout loss tonight, Vokoun now has a 22-13-2 record on the season and pushes his save percentage back up towards his career norms. Since the lockout, Vokoun has recorded a save percentage of .919 or better in all six seasons playing for mostly mediocre Panthers clubs. He didn't often get the credit that he deserved, mostly because of where he played, but all that will change now in Washington. Vokoun should be a top fantasy option the rest of the way.

Tomas Vokoun was perfect Tuesday as he blocked 42 shots en route to a 4-0 shutout win over Florida. The win improves his record to 22-13-1 and pushes his save percentage back up towards his career norms. If the Caps can put together a hot streak, Vokoun could be a top fantasy option the rest of the way.

Tomas Vokoun allowed three goals on 29 shots in a 4-1 loss to Boston on Sunday. Vokoun was coming off a 30-save shutout of the Canadiens Saturday, but Boston presented a much tougher test Sunday. With a 21-13-1 record and respectable ratios, he has turned around his season after a slow start to the campaign.

Tomas Vokoun will be between the pipes Sunday at home against the Boston Bruins. Capitals coach Dale Hunter will stick with Vokoun after his shutout performance Saturday in Montreal. Vokoun made 30 saves to earn his 47th career NHL shutout. However, he's 1-3-0 with a 3.01 goals-against average in his last four games against Boston.

Tomas Vokoun saved all 30 Canadiens shots in a 3-0 victory Saturday afternoon. It was Vokoun's third shutout of the season and the 47th of his career. Vokoun has now surpassed former Montreal goaltender Ken Dryden in terms of career shutouts and is just three shy of Chris Osgood, who currently sits at 25th place on the NHL's All-Time list. Vokoun had allowed three or more goals in his previous four starts.
