Tatar has been ice cold to start the season, scoring only one point in seven games thus far. Tatar might be gripping the stick a little hard in his sophomore campaign, as he and linemate Tomas Jurco just haven't found the spark they had last year yet. It is early in the year, however, and a player with Tatar's talent will bust out. Until that happens, though, it would be best to look elsewhere for fantasy production.

Tatar practiced with the second line Thursday and will be in the lineup for the season opener against the Bruins, Ansar Khan of MLive reports. Tatar is on a line with Riley Sheahan and Tomas Jurco, who he found a lot of chemistry with last season. Tatar had 39 points last year and is primed to exceed that total in 2014-15.

Tatar (concussion) practiced with the team Monday, Chuck Pleiness of Macomb Daily Sports reports. Tater missed the team's last two preseason games with a concussion, but it's a good sign that he's back on the ice. He'll still need to be cleared for contact before returning to practice, but he seems to be progressing at least, so a return is likely not far off.

Tatar (concussion) will not play in the Red Wings' final two preseason games, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports. Tatar is reportedly feeling fine, but because he still has to pass one more test as part of the league's concussion protocol, the Red Wings won't use him over the weekend. The expectation is that he'll be ready to play in the team's Oct. 9 regular-season opener against the Bruins.

Tatar did not skate Thursday after taking a knee to the head in Wednesday night's game, but doesn't expect to miss the season opener, the Detroit Free Press reports. The Red Wings got a scare Wednesday, but it appears Tatar does not have a concussion and will be fine. They may hold him out of the exhibition games over the weekend but all signs point to him being in the lineup for the first game of the season.

Tatar was shaken up during the third period of Wednesday's preseason game after being kneed in the head by a linesmanl following a cross-check from Pittsburgh's Blake Comeau, the Bay City Times reports. Obviously Tatar will be checked out in case he suffered a concussion, though we'll await further word from the team and hopefully it's something much milder. The Wings already have other injuries amid the forward ranks, so Tatar's health becomes a depth issue as well.

Tomas Tatar's newly signed three-year deal with Detroit is reportedly worth $8.25 million. In other words, Tatar will come with a cap hit of $2.75 million. That seems like a good deal for Detroit as Tatar should be able to build off of his 39-point rookie campaign. The Red Wings have been preparing their next generation of forwards to slowly take over from the previous generation and while Tatar probably won't ever be one of the Red Wings' top players, he is still a valuable piece of the puzzle.

Tomas Tatar has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings. The financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed by the Red Wings. After a few strong campaigns in the minors, Tatar firmly established himself with Detroit last season with 19 goals and 39 points in 73 contests. We don't see the 23-year-old as a future star, but he does have some untapped offensive upside and we anticipate him setting new career-highs in 2014-15.

Tomas Tatar netted a pair of goals to help Slovakia earn a 4-3 victory against Denmark on Tuesday. He produced four goals and eight points in seven games at the tournament, but Slovakia won't advance to the quarterfinal round so his off-season will officially begin now.

A couple of Detroit players hit the scoresheet at the IIHF Hockey World Championships in Belarus on Friday. Tomas Tatar registered an assist in Slovakia's 3-2 loss to the Czech Republic, while Danny DeKeyser registered an assist in the U.S.'s 6-1 win over Belarus. We know this doesn't mean much from a fantasy perspective, but it is nice to know if your players are doing well in a Championship tournament overseas nonetheless.
