Weiss (shoulder) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday. The forward is set to return to the lineup Thursday after a shoulder issue kept him out of action just under two weeks. He could see shorter shifts in his return from the four-game absence, but expect coach Mike Babcock to eventually carve out a larger role for the Weiss now that he's healthy. He has 10 points in 11 games played this season, leading the Red Wings to a 8-1-2 record during those contests.

Weiss will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Sabres, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Weiss' injury sent him to injured reserve as part of a move that allowed the team to recall Mike Sislo from AHL Albany. He hasn't played since Dec. 13, but appears ready to return to the ice Tuesday. The team will likely announce his activation at some point Tuesday, which should include a corresponding move to make room for his return.

Weiss is expected to return Tuesday against the Sabres, MLive.com reports. Weiss has been out since Dec. 12 with the shoulder injury, but was expected to return before the three-day Christmans break. That appears to indeed be the case, as he should return Tuesday. The 31-year-old forward has four goals and six assists in 11 games with the Red Wings this season.

Weiss (shoulder) will not be in the lineup Sunday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Weiss is close to his return after being shelved with a separated shoulder, but apparently needs a couple more days. He may be able to return for Tuesday's game against Buffalo.

Weiss (shoulder) said Thursday that he hopes to return to the Detroit lineup when eligible Sunday versus the Avalanche, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports. Weiss rotated in during line rushes at Thursday's practice, but he said that he's taking a "wait-and-see approach" to his status for Sunday based on how he progresses over the next few days. The Red Wings should have a better idea about his availability for the Avalanche game following Saturday's practice.

Weiss (shoulder) is expected to return to the Red Wings lineup before Christmas, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. The Red Wings probably won't have a firmer target date for Weiss' return until he starts practicing with the team, but fortunately, it seems that the team is ruling out an absence of more than a month for the forward. Weiss' two-year stint in Detroit has largely been a tumultuous one due to his repeated setbacks on the health front, but he has been outstanding in the 11 games he's suited up for this season, netting four goals and 10 points.

The Red Wings placed Weiss (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Weiss was deactivated to open up a roster spot for Justin Abdelkader (upper body), who is expected to return Tuesday. He will be eligible to be activated Saturday, but it's not clear when he will be ready to take the ice next.

Weiss (shoulder) will be out at least a few days but his injury isn't considered long-term, MLive.com reports. The injury appears much less severe than originally believed, as Weiss compared it to the slight shoulder separation that kept teammate Justin Abdelkader out for two weeks. Weiss doesn't expect to be out that long, and hopes to return after missing only a few games.

Coach Mike Babcock didn't sound encouraged by the condition of Weiss' shoulder after Friday's shootout loss to the Panthers, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. "He's out," Babcock said of the forward, who will be reevaluated Saturday in Toronto. General manager Ken Holland wouldn't entirely rule out the possibility of Weiss playing Saturday in Toronto after talking with the team doctor, but it seems more likely than not that he'll be forced out of the game, and quite likely, more to follow. The extent of the injury should be known by the end of the weekend. Weiss had previously been sidelined for much of the first month and a half of the season with a groin issue, but has shined since returning from the injury in November, registering four goals and six assists in nine games.

Weiss injured his shoulder Friday and did not return, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. There were conflicting reports following the game regarding his status for Saturday's game, but it sounds like he will be close to a game-time decision. Brain Lashoff and Dan Cleary would need to step up if Weiss cannot play Saturday.
