Souray (wrist) wrote on his personal Twitter account that Tuesday would mark his "last day on an NHL roster." The 38-year-old Souray has missed the last two seasons due to a wrist injury that appears to have compromised his ability to shoot the puck. With his three-year, $11 million contract with the Ducks expiring at midnight Wednesday, it looks like Souray will head for retirement. He'll leave the game with four 35-plus point campaigns on his resume in a 13-year NHL career that included stops in New Jersey, Montreal, Edmonton, Dallas, and Anaheim.

GM Bob Murray said Souray's career remains in jeopardy as a result of his season-ending wrist procedure in January, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports. With the beginning of training camp closing in on the Ducks, it sounds like the team is preparing for the possibility of life without Souray for a second consecutive season. Souray hasn't received clearance to begin practicing in full, and his advancing age (he's 38 years old) certainly doesn't work to his advantage. Even if Souray is able to return to some semblance of health at some point this season, expect him to play much less than the 20:56 minutes per game he averaged in 44 contests during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign.

There's a chance that Sheldon Souray won't be able to return from his current wrist injury. Souray underwent a second shoulder surgery. He had considered his latest surgery over the summer, but opted for a different procedure because he was concerned that this operation would end his career. "This is a difficult situation for Sheldon and a tough loss for the team," Ducks GM Bob Murray said. "Sheldon has been in pain for quite some time. This surgery was his best course of action in order to alleviate pain and discomfort, and regain full mobility in his wrist. Sheldon's long-term health is the most important issue right now, and we support his difficult decision to have this surgery."

Sheldon Souray will undergo a second wrist surgery. The original goal was to have Souray return before the Olympic break. Now he's not expected to play at all in 2013-14. He's a great offensive defenseman throughout much of his career, but injuries have been an ongoing problem for him. Given that he'll turn 38 before the start of the 2014-15 campaign, he'll be a huge risk, even as a later round pick, in fantasy drafts.

Sheldon Souray isn't close to returning from a wrist injury. Souray needed surgery after completely tearing the ligament. He hasn't played yet in 2013-14 and his recovery isn't going as well as coach Bruce Boudreau had hoped.

Sheldon Souray (wrist) is expected to return around the Olympic break. Souray completely tore the ligament in his wrist when throwing a 40-pound medicine ball in July. His return to the lineup at the time was estimated to be in four-six months so it looks like it will be closer to six months as the Olympics are in February. He is worth taking in deeper leagues as Souray has a big shot from the point and will eventually be on the power play.

Sheldon Souray (wrist) kicked off his rehabilitation on Monday. Souray has already had his cast removed. That being said, his timetable hasn't changed, so he's still not expected to return to the Ducks' lineup until December at the earliest.

Sheldon Souray (wrist) said he was hurt while throwing a 40-pound medicine ball during an off-ice workout. His ligament was completely torn and he immediately heard and felt a pop. He is currently wearing a cast and will have it for eight weeks until his wrist is re-evaluated in mid-September. At that point, he hopes to be able to begin a rehab program.

Sheldon Souray will be out of action for four-to-six months after tearing a ligament in his right wrist. He suffered the injury while doing some off-ice training in July and had surgery on July 25. The four-to-six month timetable could place his return in December or January. Souray had 17 points, 52 penalty minutes and a plus-19 rating in 44 games last season.

Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau has confirmed that Sheldon Souray will play in Game 4 Monday night. Toni Lydman won't play and it may be unlikely that he will return before the end of the series. Souray was a healthy scratch for the Ducks in Game 3 after playing in the team's previous two matches against the Red Wings.
