The Florida Panthers have traded Shawn Matthias to Vancouver. Matthias has nine goals and 16 points in 59 games in 2013-14. This move will not alter his status as a bottom-six forward.

Shawn Matthias generated two goals and one assist in Sunday's 5-3 win over the New York Islanders to cap off a successful showing this past weekend. He compiled three goals and five points in two games after producing just two goals in his previous 20 outings. Matthias was red hot for the Panthers last year during March as well, where he racked up 11 of his 14 goals. He has nine markers and 16 points in 59 games this season.

Shawn Matthias had a goal and an assist in Saturday's contest. Matthias now has seven goals and 13 points in 58 games this season. He's been serving primarily as a fourth-line center in 2013-14.

Shawn Matthias returned to action on Thursday January 30.

Shawn Matthias didn't play Tuesday because of an illness. He has recorded five goals and five assists in 51 games this year. Consider him day-to-day for now.

There is a good chance that Shawn Matthias will draw back into the Panthers' lineup against the Devils Saturday. He was a healthy scratch Thursday against Buffalo as Drew Shore took his spot. Panther coach Peter Horacek isn't down on Matthias. "I don't look at the [scratch] as being anything negative, just something you do,'" Horachek said. "Hopefully, it makes him a better player. It's not a negative. I didn't rip him. Sometimes players need to focus on what it takes to be a better player." It will be interesting to see how Matthias responds Saturday night against New Jersey should he get to play.

Shawn Matthias was a healthy scratch Thursday night. He has scored just four goals on the year and he has one marker in his last 21 outings. "He needs to stay focused and play with more detail. He seems to get distracted very easily; detail in his game isn't where it needs to be," interim coach Peter Horachek said. "He's got to get on the same page with everybody else."

Shawn Matthias scored his fourth goal of the season in Florida's 5-2 loss to Winnipeg Friday night. Matthias now has points in two straight and has nine in 37 games this year.

Shawn Matthias has been skating on Florida's fourth line of late. In 27 games this season, he has averaged 12:46 of ice time per contest, which is down from the 15:11 he received last year. "If I'm given two minutes or 22, I've got to be ready for that," said Matthias, who has five points. "All I can control is how hard I work." Interim coach Peter Horachek likes the energy that Matthias brings to the table and he has moved him up during some situations.

Shawn Matthias logged just 8:52 of ice time in Florida's 3-2 win over Anaheim. Even though he played limited minutes, Matthias scored in the second period to cut the Ducks to 2-1. The Panthers rallied to earn a 3-2 victory against the Ducks to halt their nine-game winless skid. Matthias has two goals and two assists in 19 games this campaign.
