Matthias (undisclosed) will not play Thursday against the Coyotes, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports. Coach Willie Desjardins called Matthias a game-time decision after meeting with the media after Thursday's practice, but the player himself told reporters he wasn't feeling strong enough yet to play. Sven Baertschi will enter the lineup against the Coyotes, but Matthias seemed optimistic about his chances of reclaiming his spot during Saturday's season finale against the Oilers.

Matthias (undisclosed) was absent from Wednesday's practice, Jon Abbott of TSN 1040 reports. It's not clear if Matthias is dealing with any sort of injury or if his absence from Wednesday's practice qualifies as more of a maintenance day. His status should be clarified ahead of Thursday's game against the Coyotes. Regardless, Matthias' recent offensive drought (one point in 11 games) makes him an uninspiring lineup activation in the season's finale week.

Matthias opened up the scoring with his 18th goal of the season in Monday's 4-1 win over the Blues. Matthias had gone ice cold after establishing a new career-high point total as Monday's goal marked his first point in seven games. The 27-year-old also creeped closer to an even rating as he now sits a minus-2 on the season, but his value for fantasy purposes lies more in deeper formats.

Matthias registered an assist Tuesday in a 4-1 win over the Flyers. This was a rare helper for Matthias, who has been busier finding the back of the net this season. The forward ranks second on the Canucks with 17 goals scored but he is best reserved for ownership in deeper fantasy pools considering he isn't a factor on the power play and is on track to barely crack the 30-point plateau.

Matthias tallied a first-period goal in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Canucks. The goal was Matthias' 15th of the season, establishing a new career-high for the 27-year-old. Quite remarkably, he's managed to accumulated about half of his output in February, with seven of his goals coming this month. That unforeseen uptick in scoring has enabled Matthias to gain more fantasy relevance in deeper formats, and if he can keep his production up a little longer, he'll soon look more attractive in mid-sized leagues, too.

Matthias scored on all three of his shot attempts in Friday's win over the Bruins, earning his first NHL hat trick.Matthias has seen his ice time in pick up in the wake of Nick Bonino's (foot) absence, and the three-goal effort should put him squarely on the fantasy radar in mid-sized or deeper leagues. Over the last four games, he's found the net five times, representing a quarter of his goal production for the entire season. His recent surge leaves him just one goal shy of tying the career-best total of 14 he established in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign.

Matthias potted his ninth goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Penguins. Matthias has been a nice depth scorer this season, tallying 16 points in 49 games. Currently skating on the second line with Radim Vrbata and Nick Bonino, Matthias could be worth adding in deeper formats while he remains in the top-six. It's unlikely he remains in that spot for much longer, though, but Matthias is still capable of putting together a 15-goal, 30-point season.

Matthias registered an assist in Friday's 5-2 win over the Sabres. Matthias isn't known for his scoring prowess, however, he's having one of his better seasons in that respect, as he's currently on pace to best his career high point total of 24. While the increase in scoring production is nice for Matthias, the 26-year-old center's output is far too erratic for most fantasy owners to trust.

Matthias (head) is expected to return to the lineup Saturday against the Rangers. Matthias practiced Friday and took rushes with the third line during Saturday's morning skate, which should be enough to clear him to play after he was sidelined for the previous two games. The winger has six goals and 11 points in 27 games on the campaign.

Updating previous reports, the Canucks will sit Matthias (head) for Tuesday's game in Montreal. It sounds like he was close enough to be a consideration, but instead the team will play it safe with the veteran and insert Nicklas Jensen into the lineup instead.
