Sean Couturier will be in the Philadelphia Flyers lineup after missing practice Saturday to attend his grandmother's funeral.
Couturier had been hot of late with 10 points in nine games but has only one assist in his last four games with a minus-six rating and 19 penalty minutes. He has five goals and 15 points in 29 games with a plus-four rating and 29 penalty minutes so he is worth owning in deeper leagues. Our condolences to the Couturier family on their loss.

Poolies should keep a close eye on Sean Couturier as he's posted 10 points during his last nine contests.
Couts has been red-hot during the last nine games, which has seen him take a big leap in his development. One of the primary reasons for the big boost in offensive production is due to a spike in ice time. During this span, Couturier is averaging 19:55 per contest, which trails only Claude Giroux in terms of ice-time by a Flyer forward. Another big reason for the offensive boost is the shots on goal, he's averaging 2.7 shots on goal which is a decent number to post to justify his production. One downside however, is his lack of power-play ice-time, as he garners just 47 seconds per contest. If he can ever get into that two-three minute range, his production could skyrocket. If you're looking for help up the middle definitely consider Couts!

Sean Couturier registered two goals and two assists in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Red Wings.
It was an impressive performance for the penalty killing specialist, but let's not run out to pick him up in fantasy leagues just yet, as he entered the game on pace for a 30-point season. Scott Hartnell, Claude Giroux, Steve Downie and Matt Read all found the back of the net in the Flyers win.

Sean Couturier scored in his second straight game on Saturday.
After scoring only one goal in his first 24 games, Couturier has now gone back-to-back this week. Couturier has 10 points in 26 games this season and could be breaking out of his season long slump but we would not recommend him at this time. The third period goal tied the game at two as the Flyers won 3-2 in a shootout.

Sean Couturier is now centering a line with Steve Downie and Matt Read.
The trio have been great together as they have combined for five goals and 13 points in the last three games. Couturier has four points in his last three games including his first goal of the season and now has eight points in 22 games. The troika have been a big reason why the Flyers are flying with a 6-0-1 record in their last seven games.

Flyers coach Craig Berube thinks Sean Couturier ending his season-opening goal scoring drought will boost his production going forward.
"I think he'll start putting it in a little bit now," Berube said. "Sometimes you get that first goal and feel better and more confident." Couturier finally found the back of the net in his 20th game of the season, giving him five points overall. We'll see, but either way, we don't expect Couturier have a big season offensively this season despite his upside.

Sean Couturier scored a goal in Philadelphia's 5-2 win over Ottawa on Tuesday.
Couturier has been advised to focus on his defensive game, but the Flyers certainly won't mind if he contributes offensively too. This was his first goal of the campaign, so it might serve as a confidence booster that pushes Couturier into an offensive hot streak. He has five points in 20 games this season.

The Philadelphia Daily News says forward Sean Couturier is finally playing with confidence again.
Couturier has no goals this season but the newspaper says he is confident because of his defensive contributions. "On Wednesday night, for instance, you look at the ice time and notice the only shift Sidney Crosby took without Couturier on the ice was when Couturier was in the penalty box in the third period," the paper says. "He's been huge," Flyers coach Craig Berube is quoted as saying about Couturier. "He's going against a lot of good players every night. He does a real good job defensively."

Sean Couturier is hoping to eventually blossom into a more productive player offensively.
"I take pride in my defensive game, shutting down opposing top lines," Couturier said. "It's fun. It gives me a lot of minutes but I don't want to be seen as only that defensive-minded guy." Couturier has gone from averaging 15:53 minutes per game in 2013 to 18:17 minutes this season. At the same time, he's registered just three points in 16 games. He does have untapped offensive upside, but we wouldn't count on him breaking out in the near future.
