New York Rangers GM Glen Slather hinted Saturday that the return of Ruslan Fedotenko could be dependant on the team's ability to sign prized free agent Brad Richards. When asked about Fedotenko's status, Sather replied "He wants to stay in New York. It's just a matter of priorities. It's not that he's not a priority on the team. It's a priority of trying to figure out what you want to have when the free-agent market comes around." Sather went on to confirm that his prior statement was a reference to the Rangers' salary cap space for the coming season. If you read between the lines, it becomes clear that the re-signing of Fedotenko will likely be determined by how much cap space remains if the team is lucky enough to land Richards.

Ruslan Fedotenko and the New York Rangers are reportedly working on a two-year contract. However, the report indicates that the two sides have not been able to come terms on how much money will be involved in the deal just yet. Fedotenko is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in July if the Rangers don't re-sign him.
