Nash (undisclosed) won't play Saturday against the Capitals, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Though he returned to practice Friday after sitting out Thursday's game against the Senators with a minor injury, Nash was still viewed as a game-day decision heading into Saturday's season finale. While Nash would likely receive clearance to play if the Rangers were playing a playoff game, the team decided to give the star winger some further time to recuperate rather than have him potentially aggravate the injury in a mostly meaningless game. With Nash ruled out Saturday, James Sheppard should benefit from another run in the lineup.

Nash was a plus-3 with an assist and four penalty minutes in Thursday's 5-1 win over Ottawa.
An rare night for Nash, who ordinarily fills the goals and assist columns, but rarely provides two penalties in a game for fantasy owners. Although he extends his goal-scoring drought to a season-high eight games, Nash seems to be awakening with two assists in his last three games. The veteran forward is now just five points shy of tying a career-high 69 point campaign, set in 2007-08 with the Blue Jackets.

Nash logged an assist in Sunday's 7-2 win over Anaheim.
It was a collective team sigh as the team set a season high for goals scored. While the first period assist is not exactly lighting up your page, it snaps a five-game point-scoring drought and hopefully brings momentum for more. Despite the lull, Nash's 39 goals, 63 points and plus-24 rating through 70 games still ranks in the league's top 20 in all three categories.

Nash goes into Sunday's tilt with Anaheim on a five-game point-scoring drought.
Enjoying a season of resurgence, the 30-year-old winger is currently enduring the worst slump of his fine season, just one goal shy of the third 40-goal campaign of his career. While the veteran forward's 19 goals and 35 points through 35 career games versus Sunday's opponent Anaheim bodes well, the team's offense and power play have been lackluster as of late and there's just no telling when Nash will awaken from his slumber. Hang in there fantasy owners, he's bound to break out sooner or later.
