Budaj was placed on waiver by the Kings on Sunday, TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move to ship Budaj to the minors -- assuming he clears waivers -- settles the question of who will be the No. 2 behind Jonathan Quick, as Jack Campbell appears to have won this camp position battle. Given Budaj's experience, it's certainly possible a team snags him off waiver or tries to trade for him later in the season.

Budaj is projected to cover the road net against the Canucks on Thursday night, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj was relentless in relief of Jack Campbell in Tuesday's intrasquad contest against the Coyotes, with the former setting aside all nine shots in his preseason debut. Those two netminders are locked into a fierce battle for the No. 2 job behind Jonathan Quick to open the 2018-19 season.

Budaj made nine saves without giving up a goal in relief of Jack Campbell in Tuesday's 4-2 split-squad road loss to the Coyotes.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj and Campbell figure to battle for the No. 2 job behind Jonathan Quick this season. The latter managed to save only 18 of 22 shots in this intrasquad contest, and there's something to be said about how Budaj maintained a 27-20-3 record, 2.12 GAA and .917 save percentage as a fill-in for an injured Quick during the 2016-17 campaign. This is Campbell's job to lose.

Budaj was dealt to Los Angeles on Wednesday in exchange for center Andy Andreoff.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj wasn't going to get a real chance in Tampa at age 36, so this gives him a chance to get back on the ice as a backup in Los Angeles, where he was a strong option in 2016-17. However, with Jack Campbell sitting behind Jonathan Quick, Budaj will have to earn the No. 2 job to get the chance to post solid numbers again. Budaj is likely no better than a spot starter at this point in his career, and goalies of his caliber will almost always be available to fantasy owners on the waiver wire.

Budaj remains with the Lightning, but has not seen game action since mid-March.
EDGE Analysis
Louis Domingue has moved into the back-up role ahead of Budaj, who is just a year removed from a brilliant performance in Los Angeles (27-20-3, 2.12 GAA, .917). His time in Tampa has resulted in extremely limited ice time and that won't change. Budaj is a journeyman back-up whose fantasy future lies in spot starts, but that's if he returns next year. He will be 36 to start next season.

Budaj (leg) made a relief appearance in Tuesday's 7-4 home loss to the Senators, allowing one goal on four shots.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj stepped in for traditional starter Andrei Vasilevskiy to start the third period after Vasilevskiy yielded six goals on 29 shots. There should be less focus on the fact that Budaj allowed a goal than his proving that he could at least withstand a whole period of hockey having missed the previous 29 games. With the Bolts being the first team to clinch a playoff berth and Vasilevskiy said to be dealing with fatigue, it's likely that we'll see as much of Budaj as he can physically handle down the final stretch of the regular season.

Budaj (leg) is no longer listed on injured reserve, per the NHL media site.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj was recalled from his conditioning loan Tuesday, so it's not a huge surprise that he will retake his spot as the team's backup netminder. The Bolts also sent Louis Domingue back to AHL Syracuse, leaving Budaj as the only netminder available other than starter Andrei Vasilevskiy. However, his starts will likely be few and far between.

Budaj (leg) returned from a conditioning assignment with AHL Syracuse on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Budaj started a pair of outings for the Crunch, in which he posted a 2.95 GAA and .887 save percentage. Not exactly stellar numbers, but two full 60-minute games will go a long way toward getting the netminder back to 100 percent. The next step will be the team activating him off injured reserve. Fantasy owners shouldn't be surprised to see the Lightning give the veteran a couple extra games in order to rest Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Budaj (leg) will start for AHL Syracuse in Friday's matchup with AHL Hershey, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Friday's game will mark Budaj's first game action since Dec. 29. The news effectively pushes back the netminder's potential return to the Lightning lineup to Saturday against Montreal at the earliest. Given how much coach Jon Cooper likes to utilize starter Andrei Vasilevskiy, the veteran Budaj will likely see just a handful of outings once cleared to play.

Budaj (leg) will be sent to AHL Syracuse for a conditioning stint, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was confirmed by Steve Yzerman, so expect Budaj to suit up with the Crunch in the near future. The 35-year-old has only played in seven games this season and has been out for months with this injury. The Lightning will hope to get him into game shape before presumably bringing him back up to, well, back up Andrei Vasilevskiy.
