Smith stopped all but one of the 33 shots he faced in Saturday's loss to the Islanders.
It was a great outing for Smith, but unfortunately the team's offense couldn't come through, as the Coyotes were outshot 33-19 and blanked by a 1-0 score. The good news is Smith has been playing great hockey as of late, posting an 2-1-0 record in his last three games and stopping 97 of 102 shots in that span. He's on track to play a whopping numbers of games this season and with the way he's been playing recently, more wins should be on the way.

Smith will be between the pipes Saturday against the Islanders.
Coach Dave Tippett will go with Smith for both ends of the back-to-back, after he stopped 37 of 39 pucks in a win over Anaheim on Friday. Smith has started to find himself in the net, but his brutal start to the season continues to dampen his overall numbers (3.43 GAA, .889 save percentage).

Smith stopped 37 of 39 shots before winning 3-2 in a shootout over the Ducks on Friday.
This is the Smith owners have been waiting for when they drafted him this year. It certainly didn't hurt that Ducks superstar Corey Perry (illness) sat out, but Smith still weathered a flurry of shots and earned his fourth win of the year. If he can put forth a few more stellar performances like this, his .889 save percentage and 3.43 GAA will improve in no time.

Coach Dave Tippett said Smith would start Friday's game against the Ducks, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
It sounds like Tippett is considering using Smith for both ends of the team's weekend back-to-back, but the coach will wait and see how the goalie performs against the Ducks before determining his status for Saturday's tilt with the Islanders. Smith ended a three-game losing streak with a splendid outing Tuesday against the Leafs, holding the opposition to two goals on 30 shots.

Smith snapped his three-game losing skid by saving 28 of 30 in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Leafs.
To be fair, Smith hadn't played badly in two of the games of his losing streak, but his weak season numbers have been making every loss loom large. He'll likely be in goal again and trying to build some momentum Friday in a tough start against the first-place Ducks.

Smith is lined up to start Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs, according to Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic.
Smith was the first goalie off the ice following Tuesday's morning skate, so it appears he will get the nod Tuesday night. Smith has played better of late, but he still owns an ugly 3.84 GAA on the season -- the lowest mark among the 40 goalies on track to play at least 27 games this season.

Smith surrendered three goals on 35 shots in Saturday's shutout loss to Carolina.
Smith did the best he could Saturday, but it wasn't enough, as the team in front of him couldn't get on the scoreboard. The 32-year-old has lost three straight games, falling to 2-6-0 in the season. Through eight games, Smith has allowed a league-high 30 goals, while failing to record a shutout. Smith is a workhorse in the Yotes' crease, but won't post impressive win totals on an Arizona team only scoring an average of 2.20 goals per game.

Smith will start Saturday's game against the Hurricanes, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Smith will continue to be the top option for the Coyotes for the time being, but he has been less than impressive this season. With a 2-5-0 overall record and eight goals allowed over his last two games, Smith will need to improve if he wants to become a valuable fantasy goaltender once again.

Smith looks set to start Saturday for the Coyotes, according to Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic.
It will be Smith's fifth consecutive start for Arizona. He is off to a slow start with a 3.96 goals against average and .866 save percentage, but three of his last four starts have been good despite only getting one win.

Smith put a stop to 24 of 26 shots Thursday in Florida, but was stuck with another loss.
A solid outing for Smith, but he let Scottie Upshall break a third-period tie with his first goal of the year, and Roberto Luongo was masterful on the other end. On the bright side, this represents Smith's third non-disastrous start among seven outings on the season.
