Hoffman failed to register a point against Detroit on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
After posting a 59-point season last year, Hoffman's slow start to 2016-17 is disappointing. He owns all the offensive abilities to turn the tide in a hurry, though, so remain patient. He has 12 shots already, and given his 12.7 shooting percentage over the two prior seasons, it is likely Hoffman makes his mark in the goal and point columns sooner than later.

Hoffman scored a power-play goal and tacked on an assist during Saturday's 3-2 preseason loss to Montreal in overtime.
EDGE Analysis
While these games may not count for the ultimate prize, Hoffman has officially caught fire. The 2009 fifth-round pick has three goals in two games and continues to be the aggressor. The winger compiled 29 goals last year, and with added motivation from a new contract and coach, the 26-year-old is in line for a monster campaign.

Hoffman potted two goals -- including the game-winning tally -- on five shots, adding two PIM and a plus-2 rating during Thursday's 4-3 overtime win against the Canadiens in the preseason.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman is poised to explode this upcoming season, and a performance like this only solidifies that possibility. The 26-year-old got paid in the offseason and looks to be the 30-goal winger the Sens desperately need to get right back into playoff contention. New coach Guy Boucher could bring the best out of the 2009 fifth-round pick, which may spell a new milestone when the season is all said and done. Hoffman had a career-high 59 points in 2015-16, and it wouldn't be surprising if that was his floor moving forward.

Hoffman avoided arbitration Wednesday and agreeing to terms on a four-year contract with the Senators worth $20.75 million.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman was third on the team in points last year (59) with 13 of those points coming on the power-play. The winger averages over 17 minutes of ice time per game, including 2:27 with the man advantage and has hit the 45-point mark in each of his two full seasons in the NHL. One of the only knocks on the 26-year-old is that he plays in Ottawa, who may have struggled to get wins, but were ninth in goals scored in 2015-16 with 230. Fantasy owners will need to overlook the team's win-loss column and instead focus on their ability to put pucks in the back of the net and consider snatching up Hoffman is he is available.

Hoffman will file for arbitration Tuesday, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman could still reach a deal with the Senators even after the Tuesday deadline, but it seems as though, for now, negotiations have reached an impasse. In terms of fantasy value, the winger has had two fantastic seasons, 48 and 59 points in 2014-15 and 2015-16 respectively, and even a prolonged contract dispute should have little impact on the 26-year-old's on ice productivity.

Hoffman has until Tuesday to file for arbitration, but the Senators would prefer to get a deal done before, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman is expected to come to an agreement with the Senators, but if not, he has the option of playing hardball. The addition of coach Guy Boucher -- who coached the winger during his time in Quebec Major Junior Hockey -- has been widely touted as a heavy influence in bringing the 2009 fifth-round draft pick back. Ottawa can match any offer Hoffman receives if needed, but expect the 26-year-old to return to the Sens barring an unforeseen issue in negotiations.

Hoffman was tendered a qualifying offer from the Senators on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
With the hiring of Guy Boucher as the Senators new head coach, Hoffman's chances of being retained by the team was increased due to a former relationship between the two. Those intentions became even more clear Monday, as the qualifying offer means the team can match any offer Hoffman sees on the free agent market. The 26-year-old winger notched career-highs of 29 goals and 30 assists during the 2015-16 campaign, and it appears he'll likely get the opportunity to build on that progress with the Senators for at least another year.

With the Senators hiring Guy Boucher as their new head coach, Hoffman's chances of sticking with the team have increased, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun report.
EDGE Analysis
"Does he have things he can improve? Of course, but I'm so excited to be coaching him again. I know him," Boucher said. Hoffman was coached by Boucher from 2007-09 with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Drummondville Voltigeurs, so the hiring of a familiar face is a step in the right direction for the 26-year-old's status with the Senators. Previous coach Dave Cameron had trust issues with the winger, which boiled out to multiple instances of decreased ice time down the stretch of the regular season. Obviously, this doesn't cement Hoffman being resigned, but if it happens, the 2009 fifth-round pick's best play could be unleashed.

Hoffman finished the 2015-16 season just shy of his first 60-point campaign, notching 29 goals and 30 assists in 78 games.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman found himself in head coach Dave Cameron's doghouse down the stretch, which obviously didn't help his case for reaching the 60-point mark. Cameron has been fired, but the Sens have been hesitant in starting contract negotiations with the 26-year-old. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reported that Hoffman would "love to stay in Ottawa," but it remains to be seen if he's in their plans moving forward.

Hoffman picked up assist No. 30 and two PIM in Saturday's 6-1 win over Boston.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman hit 30 helpers for the first time in his career, ending the season with 59 total points (29 tallies). The 26-year-old set milestones across the board, but unfortunately did not equal last year's plus-16 rating, as he finishes at plus-1. The winger will look for a new contract from Ottawa this offseason, and we'd say he earned it.
