Backlund is day-to-day with a concussion sustained in the World Cup of Hockey on Tuesday, Roger Millions of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backlund took a high hit to the head in Tuesday's World Cup match against rival Finland, leading many to believe that he would be forced to drop out of the World Cup of Hockey due to the injury. However, the Swede reportedly is feeling better and remains in Toronto under the care of the Flames medical staff. Team Sweden will square off against Europe on Sunday afternoon for the semifinal round of Group B. Expect more light to be shed on Backlund's injury ahead of that game.

Backlund is believed to have sustained a concussion while participating in World Cup of Hockey action, TSN Radio Vancouver reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backlund was on the receiving end of a nasty hit up high from defenseman Sami Lepisto in Tuesday's game against Finland. He was held out of Wednesday's contest against Team North America, which ended in an overtime loss, but Sweden has advanced to the semifinals. Between this injury and not cracking the scoresheet four games, including the preliminary round, it's been a rough tournament for Backlund, who reportedly will meet with Flames doctors to undergo further evaluation.

Backlund will replace the injured Henrik Zetterberg (knee) on Sweden's World Cup of Hockey roster, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backlund closed out the final four games of the 2015-16 season on a tear, as he tallied six goals and two helpers, including a hat-trick. The center had an uneven season filled with hot and cold streaks, but could benefit from playing in the World Cup and shaking off any offseason rust. The 27-year-old is coming off a career year and should attract plenty of interest from fantasy owners.

Backlund notched his first-career hat trick -- one goal on the power play and another shorthanded -- and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 7-3 win over Vancouver.
EDGE Analysis
Backlund has been ridiculous in April after going pointless in eight straight to end March. The 27-year-old has amassed six goals -- two shorthanded -- in three games, tacking on an assist for good measure. It's easily the center's most productive stretch of the season as he aims to redefine the meaning of finishing strong. Oh, not to mention Backlund now has a new career-high 21 tallies.

Backlund scored twice and had an assist in Saturday's win over the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
The three-point effort was just the first time in nine games Backlund had gotten on the scoresheet, giving him 17 goals and 42 points in 79 games. He's put up decent totals on the year, but the second-liner is just too inconsistent to be trusted in shallower formats. Considering he's streaky, Backlund could be worth getting in your lineup for these final three games after that multi-point effort.

Backlund assisted on the Flames' first two goals Wednesday, contributing majorly to a strong first-period start en route to a 4-1 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
That makes four straight games on the scoresheet and eight points in the last seven games for Backlund, who's now tied his career-high 39 points from two years ago. He's been a remarkably consistent scorer since early February and should be under strong consideration for DFS lineups while he's running hot, as the Swede -- who turns 27 on Thursday -- doesn't come with a hefty price tag.

Despite missing morning skate, coach Bob Hartley indicated that Backlund will play in Wednesday's game against the Jets, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backlund was the presumed question mark following the Flames' emergency recall of Freddie Hamilton on Wednesday, but it appears it's actually Sean Monahan that could miss the contest. It's possible things will change if Monahan misses the evening's game, but Backlund currently set to center the club's second line alongside Kenny Agostino and Michael Frolik, and should be deployed normally in fantasy lineups.

Backlund did not participate in practice Wednesday morning, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the emergency recall of Freddie Hamilton, it appears Backlund will miss Wednesday evening's game with Winnipeg. Backlund has been on a roll, with five points in his last five games, so not having him will hurt a Flames team already struggling mightily.

Backlund reached a plus-2 rating to go along with a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
Backlund had not recorded a plus-2 rating since Feb. 19, but he has reached that mark eight times this season, a respectable amount considering the Flames' struggles at times. The 26-year-old sits at plus-6 on the year, and should challenge his career-high of 39 points -- the center has 34 to date, including tallies in two straight.

Backlund lit the lamp in a 6-3 loss to Buffalo on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
After a hot streak in mid February, Backlund has cooled off a little, with two points in his last six contests. This is typical for Backlund, who has always been a streaky scorer. Although he's not a dynamic fantasy player by any means, he's settled into a nice niche in Calgary where he can score 30-40 points a season on the third line.
