Sabres head coach Ted Nolan said Tuesday that Foligno (hand) could miss "a couple months," WGR 550 reports.
This update makes it likely that Foligno did in fact break his hand Sunday in a fight with Matt Bartkowski of the Bruins. Foligno's been a modest offensive contributor who's offered most of his value in the PIM and hits categories, and he'll be replaced on Buffalo's roster by highly regarded prospect Joel Armia.

Foligno hurt his hand against Boston on Sunday, reports the Olean Times Herald.
Foligno hurt his hand after a fight with Matt Bartkowski, who hit Sabres captain Brian Gionta with a hit to the head and was later handed a game misconduct. It's been a tough winter for the Sabres, who are playing their best hockey this year but now have 10 players out with injury or illness. Foligno likely hurt his hand after punching Bartkowski's helmet and is expected to be out "a while." The big forward has nine points in 28 games this season and will likely be sidelined until January. No word on exactly what is wrong with the hand, though.

Foligno scored a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win over Ottawa on Monday and extended his points streak to three games.
Foligno now has four points in his past three games and was awarded with 16 minutes of ice time, the most he's played in a game in December after averaging 14 minutes in his past three games. He's a physical winger who has plenty of potential, but just hasn't lived up to the billing yet. Keep an eye on him but there are better power forwards on the waiver wire for fantasy owners right now.

Foligno recorded his third goal of the season in Thursday's win over the Flames.
Foligno turned in an active game, supplying four hits and spending two minutes in the penalty box in addition to finding the net. He's typically more skilled as a grinder than a scorer, however, as his meager point totals (six in 23 games) would reflect.

Foligno (shoulder) is expected to play Saturday against Toronto, Bill Hoppe of the Times Herald reports.
Foligno made a premature return from a shoulder injury Tuesday but was put back on the bench with concern that he hadn't made a full recovery. He is currently expected to rejoin the third line against the Maple Leafs on Saturday, however.

Foligno will be scratched from Thursday's lineup due to the team's concern that he isn't fully recovered from his recent shoulder injury, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
After a four-game absence, Foligno returned to the lineup Tuesday against the Blues, but looked quite lethargic in his 10:25 of action. The forward finished the game with a minus-2 rating and was hanging his arm at one point in the contest, a sign he could benefit from some more conditioning work. Foligno should be viewed as day-to-day for now, but don't be surprised if the Sabres shut him down temporarily in an attempt to aid his recovery. Patrick Kaleta will join the lineup in Foligno's stead Thursday.

Foligno, out since Nov. 1 due to a shoulder injury, has been cleared to play The Buffalo News reports.
Foligno is expected to play in Tuesday's game in St. Louis. He's got just three points through 11 games and plays for a team that has just 20 goals this season. Plus he'll be on a bottom line to start, so he's best left on your bench for now if your league runs that deep.

Foligno (shoulder) will not play Saturday against the Penguins, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Foligno revealed on Friday that his shoulder has been bothering him for the past week, which will result in him missing his fourth straight game. The forward has been able to skate the last few days, but he'll likely remain unavailable for games until he logs a full practice or two.

Foligno, who will miss Friday's game against Edmonton, said it's his left shoulder that's bothering him.
Foligno is hopeful to return Saturday against Pittsburgh after suffering a left shoulder injury against them last week. He's one of Buffalo's most physical forwards and needs to stay healthy to be an effective player. The good news is that it's not the shoulder that Foligno had surgery on in the offseason. He has two goals and 36 hits in 11 games this season.
