Foligno (general soreness) could make his return to the Buffalo lineup as soon as Saturday. Foligno was able to skate on his own Thursday, but it doesn't sound like he's progressed enough to be a lineup option for Friday's game against the Oilers. However, if Foligno is able to increase his activity during the Sabres' morning skate Friday, coach Ted Nolan could look to swap him into the lineup for the second game of the back-to-back on Saturday. Johan Larsson has been filled in for the injured Foligno during the last two games.

Coach Ted Nolan said Foligno (general soreness) would not play Wednesday against the Canadiens Nolan left open the possibility after Tuesday's practice that Foligno would be back in the lineup against Montreal, but the winger apparently didn't make enough progress overnight for the Sabres to feel comfortable rolling with him. He'll miss his second straight contest as Buffalo goes with the same lineup it used in Sunday's upset victory over the Red Wings.

Foligno (general soreness) could play Wednesday against the Canadiens. Foligno was "banged up" and missed the Sabres' last game Sunday, but that would be the extent of his absence if he is able to return to action Wednesday.

Foligno is banged up and will not play Sunday against the Red Wings. Foligno's injury caused the Sabres to call up Johan Larsson, who will start Sunday against the Red Wings in his place. Foligno's injury is unclear, but it sounds as though it might be a combination of bumps and bruises, but doesn't sound like anything that will keep him out long-term.

Foligno will line up at center against San Jose on Saturday, reports Paul Hamilton from WGR Sports Radio 550. The Sabres will try Foligno at center in an effort to spark the team after getting shut out 2-0 by the Kings on Thursday. The team has struggled on offense this year, scoring just eight goals in eight games and have been shut out three times in their past four games. Foligno is currently tied for the team lead with three points. The move to center means added responsibility for Foligno, and also means Cody Hodgson will move back to the wing.

Foligno scored two goals in Buffalo's 4-3 shootout win over Carolina on Tuesday. Foligno played 18:03 and led all forwards with 3:02 on the penalty kill as the budding power forward played his best game of the season. After scoring just seven goals last year, Foligno has challenged himself to be a more consistent and better overall player. He's on the right track, though it's early in the season. Foligno has 20-goal potential but offense will be hard to come by for the Sabres, who score by committee with no standout top line. Foligno finished the night with two goals, two hits and was named the game's second star.

Foligno (undisclosed) will play in Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes. It's not certain what type of setback prevented Foligno from playing in Monday's game, but whatever ailment he is dealing with will not keep him off the ice Tuesday.

Foligno will not be available for Monday's game against the Ducks due to an undisclosed injury, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports. It's likely Foligno acquired the injury at some point during Saturday's loss to the Blackhawks, but the severity of the ailment remains unknown at this time. Consider him questionable for Tuesday's tilt with the Hurricanes, though it wouldn't be remotely surprising if he was held out until the weekend. Brian Flynn will replace him in the lineup Monday.

Foligno, who underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason, doesn't appear to be limited in training camp, NHL.com reports. Though Foligno suited up for 74 games last season, the shoulder injury seemed to hinder his performance throughout, as he essentially matched his scoring output from the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign, despite suiting up for 27 additional games. Foligno is anxious to test out the surgically-repaired shoulder in the preseason, and it should only take a few games for him to settle back into a rhythm. The Sabres showed their faith in Foligno by giving him a two-year extension in the offseason, and with better health entering the season, he'll have a decent shot at emerging as a 30-point scorer for the Sabres.

Marcus Foligno has agreed to a two-year, $3.75 million contract extension. Foligno had 19 points and 82 penalty minutes in 74 games with the Sabres in 2013-14. It's not surprising that he ended up getting a bridge deal after his entry-level contract expired. He's got some offensive upside and he'll get a far more lucrative contract next time if he can live up to his potential.
