Methot (hand) didn't participate in line rushes during pregame warmups, indicating he'll miss Wednesday's Game 1 against the Bruins, Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Methot missed the last nine games of the regular season while recovering from a hand injury, and he'll now need to wait for Saturday's Game 2 for his next chance to return to to Ottawa's lineup. With Methot unavailable Wednesday, Fredrik Claesson will skate with Erik Karlsson on the Senators' top pairing against Boston.

Methot (hand) is unsure whether he'll be ready to go for Wednesday's Game 1 against Boston, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
EDGE Analysis
The burly defenseman has been out since March 23, when a slash from Sidney Crosby severed the tip of one of his fingers. Due to the nature of the injury, Methot has been able to continue skating since going out of the lineup, so he shouldn't have to worry too much about getting his skating legs back. The team should give another update on Methot's status ahead of puck drop Wednesday.

Methot (hand) has a "very good" chance of hitting the ice Wednesday against the Bruins according to general manager Pierre Dorion.
EDGE Analysis
Methot has missed the Sens' previous nine contest with this hand ailment, but appears to be nearing a return. The blueliner will certainly help to stabilize Ottawa's blue line, but doesn't offer much in terms of fantasy value. The 31-year-old failed to register a goal in his 68 appearances this season and garnered just 12 helpers. While Methot does average over two minutes per game on the penalty kill, he is a rare addition to the power play.

Senators head coach Guy Boucher said Saturday that he hopes to have Marc Methot (hand) back for Game 1 or 2 of the first round of the playoffs, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fredrik Claesson and Ben Harpur have been seeing regular playing time with Methot and Erik Karlsson (foot) on the shelf down the stretch. When Methot is able to return it will only matter to fantasy owners in the deepest of postseason pools.

Methot (hand) is not expected back until the playoffs, Dean Brown of TSN 1200 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Methot's absence isn't a huge loss for most fantasy owners and DFS players, but he has tremendous value to his real-life team. With the veteran sidelined it likely means Fredrik Claesson and/or Jyrki Jokipakka draws into the lineup for the remainder of the regular season and perhaps the early stages of the postseason.

Methot (hand) is expected to miss "weeks" after his finger was slashed by Sidney Crosby in Thursday's game against the Penguins, Bruce Garrioch of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
No penalty was called on the gruesome play that severed the tip of a finger on Methot's left hand. Given the return timeline -- in the best case scenario -- there will be just a couple of games left on the regular-season schedule by the time the defenseman is ready to return. In the meantime, Fredrik Claesson and/or Jyrki Jokipakka are in line for more minutes.

Methot suffered a laceration to his left hand during Thursday's game against the Penguins and will not finish the game.
EDGE Analysis
While it's being officially ruled a hand laceration, the reality is a bit more gruesome -- Methot had his hand slashed early in the game and part of his finger was separated from his hand. Ouch. It's unclear how long the 31-year-old will have to remain sidelined but knowing he's a hockey player, he could be back next game.

Methot (illness) is expected to return Saturday with the Senators in Toronto to face the Senators, Dean Brown of TSN 1200 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Methot Man barely gets any time on the power play and has yet to find twine despite averaging more than a shot per game, but the Senators appreciate the physicality that he brings to the back line as a complement to another masher in Mark Borowiecki.

Methot is dealing with an illness that will prevent him from suiting up against the Devils on Thursday, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
EDGE Analysis
Methot can't buy a goal this season -- he's come up empty on 55 shots -- but the Senators aren't quite as physical without the blueliner in the lineup as he's already up to 114 hits to go along with 61 blocked shots. Dennis Wideman reportedly will draw into this next game as a substitute for the ailing Methot.

Methot has posted two assists through four games in the month of January, already tying his best for points in a single month.
EDGE Analysis
Methot can help fantasy owners with his plus-11 rating, 73 hits and 43 blocked shots. Just temper expectations on the offensive end, as Methot hasn't lit the lamp since March 19, 2016, a span of 41 games, or exactly half of a full NHL season.
