Schenn signed a one-year, $800,000 deal with the Ducks on Sunday, Frank Seravalli of TSN reports.

Once upon a time, Schenn was traded for James van Riemsdyk. This offseason, JVR signed a big deal to return to the Flyers, while Schenn is hoping to just catch on with Anaheim. The 28-year-old has spent the last couple of seasons with the Coyotes, but he was held to single-digit points in both campaigns.

Schenn only posted seven points in 64 games this season, though he managed 219 hits and 105 blocked shots to reach triple-digits in said categories for the third straight year.

EDGE Analysis

Schenn was only useful in fantasy leagues that issued big scoring bonuses for defensive contributions, but he was influential in helping Coyotes netminder Antti Raanta enjoy a successful debut campaign in the desert.

Schenn threw six body checks and recorded two blocked shots through 16:53 of ice time during Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to Edmonton.

EDGE Analysis

After watching the previous 11 games from the press box, Schenn was involved in his return Monday. The 28-year-old defenseman has collected just five assists this season, and outside of his 166 hits and 81 blocked shots, there isn't a lot of fantasy appeal. Additionally, there's a good chance Schenn returns to being a healthy scratch once Alex Goligoski is back in the fold following the birth of his child.

EDGE Analysis

Schenn has now found the scoresheet in consecutive games, but with just five assists through 47 contests for the campaign, there continues to be little fantasy appeal. In fact, outside of his contributions in the hit column (147), Schenn struggles to provide value.

EDGE Analysis

Schenn is currently riding a 30 game pointless streak that dates back to Oct. 17, which is surprising since he's notched over 10 points every season but one since he entered the league in 2008-09. Still, Schenn has played in every game thus far while averaging 15:52 of ice time, so it seems likely he'll break the streak sooner rather than later.

With just two assists and 15 shots through 16 games, Schenn probably shouldn't be relied on in the majority of fantasy settings. Outside of chipping in PIM and hits, the 27-year-old veteran offers very little value.

Schenn has two assists, seven shots, 12 hits and eight blocked shots while averaging 12:35 of ice time through the first five games of the season.

EDGE Analysis

Fantasy owners should know what they're getting from Schenn at this stage of his career. He moves the needle in the hits, blocked shots and PIM columns, but the 27-year-old defenseman shouldn't be counted on for offensive production. As a result, his fantasy value is limited to deep settings.

With just seven assist this year, Schenn's fantasy value lies entirely in his solid secondary numbers. The bruising defenseman has 68 PIM, 219 hits and 96 blocked shots, which are helpful peripheral numbers in deeper leagues. Additionally, you know what you're getting with Schenn. You just can't expect any offensive production and have to be willing to stomach a hit in the plus-minus column.

Schenn collected two assists in a 5-0 road win over Calgary on Monday. He also skated to a plus-4.

EDGE Analysis

The rearguard getting on the scoresheet is a rare sight, as he now has just five assists (and no goals) in 50 games and had gone 12 contests without an offensive contribution prior to Monday. His offensive contributions make him unworthy of fantasy ownership in the majority of formats, but Schenn's 183 hits keep him relevant in the deepest settings.

Schenn tallied a game-high six hits over 17:25 of ice time in Saturday's 3-0 loss against the Ducks.

EDGE Analysis

Schenn has done next to nothing offensively, but he has logged 140 hits over 38 games to rank second in the Western Conference and in the top 5 in the NHL. His body checks and occasional blocked shots make him worth a roster spot in deeper formats.
