Kyle Clifford (upper body) skated for about 20 minutes after the team's morning skate and took some shots. He did not participate in the drills with the Kings' other scratches though and appears to be going through the protocol associated with a concussion after he was hit into the boards from behind by Vancouver's Byron Bitz last Wednesday in Game 1.

Kyle Clifford did not take part in the Kings optional skate Monday. This doesn't come as a surprise, as Clifford was the recipient of a suspension-worthy hit from Canucks forward Byron Bitz when he slammed him into the glass in Game 1 and suffered a head injury. Only a few players skated, but if Clifford was feeling better, he likely would have taken part since he hasn't seen the ice since April 11. "I think it's actually a good thing to have a few days off to regroup, to get our legs back and be able to prepare for the next game," Drew Doughty said. "We can't be sitting back or relaxing or anything like that.

Kyle Clifford (upper body) is doubtful for Game 3 Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks. Clifford was injured on Wednesday when Canucks' forward Byron Bitz rammed him into the glass, a misdeed that cost Bitz a two game suspension from the NHL. Clifford has yet to start skating again and there is no word at this time as to when he will return to the ice.

Kyle Clifford sustained an upper-body injury in Wednesday's Game 1 victory over Vancouver when he was hit from behind into the boards by Canucks forward Byron Bitz. Bitz received a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct, which may result in supplemental discipline, while Clifford wasn't able to return. The Los Angeles forward sat on the bench for the rest of second period and remained in the locker room for the third. Clifford appeared to be dazed when he got up from the contact, but details regarding his status are still uncertain at this time.

Kyle Clifford is expected to be the Kings' lineup on Wednesday night after he delivered a questionable hit on Phoenix's Gilbert Brule during Tuesday's contest. He will not be suspended after receiving match penalty for the infraction in the third period. Clifford came from behind and delivered a late check that appeared to make contact with Brule's head. Coach Darryl Sutter referred to the play as a "shoulder-to-shoulder hit, nothing more" and he refused to speak further about the incident. Clifford has 97 penalty minutes and 143 hits in 60 games this season.

Keep an eye on the rapidly developing Kyle Clifford. The 21-year-old seems to have the potential to be more than just a fighter. Clifford has improved his skating and had a pretty good scoring touch in junior hockey before cracking the Kings' roster without playing a game in the AHL. Although he has only four goals and 10 points this season, Clifford has the potential to be a Todd Bertuzzi-type of player if he keeps on his current trajectory. That would make him a very valuable fantasy commodity.
