Versteeg (hip) has been cleared to begin skating in 10 to 14 days after meeting with his surgeon this week, Darren Dreger of TSN.ca reports. The winger's return timeline remains sometime in March.
EDGE Analysis
Injury optimism can be dangerous for fantasy owners, as Versteeg will likely need time to hit full stride once healthy enough to return to the lineup, and he could also suffer a setback and be out longer than expected. Additionally, he's probably only going to be available for a handful of games at the end of the season. Be pragmatic before using a roster spot or IR slot on him at this stage of the season.

Versteeg will undergo hip surgery Monday,
EDGE Analysis
The veteran winger is faced with a month-to-month return timetable, with this latest report explaining that Versteeg, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, is suffering from a hip labrum issue. "He'd had some history with the hip,'' GM Brad Treliving said. "He tweaked it. He zigged when he should've zagged." While there's no denying that this is a tough loss for the Flames, Versteeg can still wear his leadership hat around the locker room and mentor youngsters like Matthew Tkachuk and Garnet Hathaway, who was recently called up from AHL Stockton.

Versteeg (hip) is listed as month-to-month.
EDGE Analysis
This news is actually slightly encouraging, as Sportsnet's Roger Millions reported that Versteeg could be in danger of missing the rest of the season Thursday. Nonetheless, the veteran winger is clearly going to be sidelined long term, so the Flames will be tasked with finding an adequate replacement for him on their top power-play unit for the foreseeable future.

Versteeg (lower body) could require season-ending surgery, Roger Millions of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Millions is reporting that this injury is similar to the one that caused Versteeg to miss extended time when he was with the Panthers in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign. If it's ultimately confirmed that the heady Canadian winger has played his last game this season, he finishes with three goals, five helpers and five power-play points through 22 contests.

Versteeg (lower body) landed on injured reserve Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
By using a retroactive designation for Versteeg, he is eligible to return as early as Saturday's matchup with Edmonton, although that effectively rules him out against Arizona on Thursday. Whether the winger is cleared to play versus the Oilers remains to be seen. In the meantime, the club has recalled Garnet Hathaway from the minors to fill in.

Versteeg (lower body) is slated to sit out a second consecutive contest when the Flames take on the Maple Leafs on Tuesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg's injury has apparently not progressed enough and the coaching staff likely wants him to get some more rest before he'll be considered for a return to the lineup. Mark Giordano very well may continue to occupy Versteeg's place with the first power-play unit while the forward continues to recover.

Versteeg (lower body) is being evaluated before Tuesday's game with the Maple Leafs, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Versteeg didn't play Saturday after getting banged up Friday. It seems like we will have an update on his status in time for Tuesday's contest. The veteran has excelled on the power play once again, as he has five points with the extra man through 22 games.

Versteeg has been ruled out of Saturday's game against Colorado with an lower-body injury.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear when this injury surfaced, as it was announced minutes before puck drop. He will be replaced on the fourth line by Freddie Hamilton, and his power-play duties will likely be turned over to Sam Bennett. Versteeg has posted three goals, five assists and a minus-8 rating through 22 games.

Versteeg registered two power-play assists in Saturday's 5-4 overtime road win over the Flyers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran winger was instrumental in helping the Sean Monahan record his first career hat trick, and now five of Versteeg's eight points this season have taken place with the man advantage. He's past his prime, but performances like this remind us there's still some gas in the tank.

Versteeg recorded four shots on net through 14:35 of ice time (3:31 on the power play) but also received a minus-2 rating during Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Vancouver.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran has gone 13 games since his last multi-point showing and has just a goal and two assists during that run. Versteeg is being utilized in an interesting fashion this season, as he's skating on the fourth line at five-on-five while also being deployed on the No. 1 power-play unit. He's remains a capable offensive player, and there is potential for Versteeg to find a scoring groove and post solid numbers for a stretch. However, in most settings, he currently isn't a viable fantasy option and is just a player to keep tabs on.
