The Flames acquired Poulin from the Lightning in exchange for future considerations on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Flames have been plagued by awful goaltending this season, with Karri Ramo, Jonas Hiller, and Joni Ortio all sporting goals-against averages well above 3.50 in 19 combined total appearances. While Poulin may not be the answer in net Calgary is looking for, he will at least provide the Flames with additional organizational depth at the position and another option in goal if things don't begin to improve. Poulin has been recalled from AHL Syracuse, Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Poulin's exact role in the Tampa Bay organization is rather nebulous as he hasn't made any appearances for the Syracuse Crunch, nor has he been sent between the pipes for the Lightning this season. However, it appears that the team is viewing him as extra insurance with Ben Bishop and Andrei Vasilevskiy being the primary options in goal for the Bolts this season.
