The Flames acquired Poulin from the Lightning in exchange for future considerations on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Flames have been plagued by awful goaltending this season, with Karri Ramo, Jonas Hiller, and Joni Ortio all sporting goals-against averages well above 3.50 in 19 combined total appearances. While Poulin may not be the answer in net Calgary is looking for, he will at least provide the Flames with additional organizational depth at the position and another option in goal if things don't begin to improve. Poulin has played in 50 career NHL games with the Islanders, posting an 18-25-3 record with a 3.07 GAA and .899 save percentage in those contests. He will report to AHL Stockton to begin his season with the Flames organization.
