Kevin Poulin allowed two goals on 15 shots Monday as he earned a victory in a 7-3 defeat of the Stars. Poulin entered the game in the first period with the Isles trailing 1-0 after an injury forced Evgeni Nabokov out of action, but he was between the pipes while his teammates mounted their comeback. His record improves to 6-12-0 as a result and he would be the odds-on favorite for playing time if Nabokov is forced to miss time.

Kevin Poulin allowed six goals on 37 shots in the Islanders' 6-3 loss to Phoenix Thursday night. Poulin played very good game against San Jose Tuesday night, but now he had an awful night again. With the loss, Poulin saw his record fall to 4-12-0. He also has 3.25 goals-against average and .892 save percentage. The Islanders activated Evgeni Nabokov from IR and he served as a backup. Look for Nabokov to start the next game for the struggling New York Islanders.

Kevin Poulin turned aside 46 of 48 San Jose shots in the Islanders' 3-2 shootout victory Tuesday night. Poulin had lost six starts in-a-row before this shootout win. He was the best player on ice and maybe this will give him some needed confidence. Poulin still has a terrible 4-11-0 record with a 3.06 record and .896 save percentage. Maybe the Islanders will stick with Poulin for a while now.

Islanders goaltender Kevin Poulin struggled Wednesday as he suffered his fourth straight loss in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Jets. An injury to Evgeni Nabokov (groin) has thrust the struggling backup into the starting role, but the stint has been a bit of a nightmare. His record is now 3-9-0 for the season while his GAA is 3.09 and his save percentage is .892.

Kevin Poulin continued to struggle in the New York Islanders' net Saturday night and was replaced after allowing three goals in the Philadelphia Flyers' 5-2 victory. Poulin gave up the three goals on 16 Philly shots. He was replaced by Anders Nilsson, who allowed one goal on 13 shots. Poulin is 0-3-0 in three career starts against the Flyers and he has not been able to fill in adequately for the injured Evgeni Nabokov (groin).

A recent groin injury to veteran Evgeni Nabokov has left the No. 1 job to Kevin Poulin, but he's struggled in that role. Poulin has compiled an .867 save percentage in his past four appearances and is 0-2-0 with a 3.05 GAA in two career starts against the Flyers. The Islanders' shaky goaltending hasn't been helped by the league's worst penalty-killing unit, which has allowed 17 goals over the last 41 short-handed situations. The Isles face the Flyers today. Success against the Islanders has become the norm for the Flyers, who are 24-3-2 in the series since the 2008-09 season. They are 15-1-2 in the last 18 home games versus New York, though one of those losses was a 4-3 shootout defeat March 13.
