Faulk failed to register a point during the Canes' season-opening 5-4 shootout win Saturday against the Wild. However, he did see ice time of 24:54, including 5:14 on the power play.
EDGE Analysis
Despite putting up zeros in the traditional scoring categories, Faulk put up a decent fantasy stat line in a number of other categories, including shots on goal (4), PIM (2), hits (2) and blocked shots (2). The Canes should be an improved offensive team this season, so as long as he keeps seeing the same kind of premium ice time, the points will surely follow. Keep him rolling.

Faulk scored an empty-net goal and also chipped in an assist Saturday in a 4-1 preseason road win over the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
The mobile power-play defenseman registered 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) in 75 games last season, albeit stacked against a minus-18 rating. He's a high-volume shooter having set at least 225 shots on goal in two of the past three years, and Faulk's been able to log serious minutes (23:38) ever since his rookie campaign in 2011-12.

Faulk scored a power-play goal in a 3-2 loss to the Penguins on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
As usual, Faulk is killing owners in the plus/minus category, but as far as goal scoring goes, only Brent Burns has more goals than Faulk among NHL defensemen. What's a little unexpected, though, is only four of his 17 goals have come on the man advantage. Last season, he posted 12 power-play markers. The lack of special teams scoring has limited Faulk's value. Right now, he's only useful to owners in need of goals and shots.

Faulk tallied a pair of assists -- one on the power play -- in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
After scoring two goals in Monday's game against these same Red Wings, the Minnesota native continued his abuse of the Detroit defense by playing setup man. Faulk's assist totals have lagged both this season and last thanks to playing for a Carolina team that isn't known for generating tons of offense, but the guy is 25 years old with three 15-goal seasons under his belt. He's one of the most underrated stars in the league, all because of his poor team context.

Faulk scored two goals and registered nine shots on net during Monday's overtime loss to Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old defenseman flashed his upside Monday, but the offense has been hit or miss of late, as Faulk has hit the scoresheet in just six of his past 21 games for five goals, eight points and 57 shots. For the campaign, he's matched last season's 16 tallies and has 17 helpers, so Faulk has maintained plenty of his fantasy value. Additionally, outside of his minus-11 rating, the peripheral numbers are solid (30 PIM, 101 hits and 76 blocked shots through 67 games). Now entering his prime, look for Faulk to continue providing strong fantasy numbers, and there is room for improvement and more consistency.

Faulk (undisclosed) took pregame line rushes, signaling that he will likely suit up for Tuesday's clash with the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
It appears that Faulk will tough it out despite reports that he might not be ready to go. He is slated to skate on Carolina's second defensive pairing alongside Noah Hanifin on Tuesday.

Faulk is considered questionable for Tuesday night's matchup with the Islanders after blocking a shot in the third period of Monday's win over the same squad.
EDGE Analysis
Faulk was evidently able to finish out Monday's game without leaving but is now suffering from adverse effects of the shot that hit him. The injury comes at an inopportune for the American blueliner, as he is currently riding a four-game point streak, during which he has recorded three goals and two assists. Check back for an update on Faulk's status prior to puck drop.

Faulk collected two goals over 24:07 of ice time during Monday's win over the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
The rearguard now sports a four-game point streak with three goals, five points and 10 shots. Faulk entered the campaign with a 16th-ranked 1.46 points per 60 minutes among all defenseman with at least 3,000 minutes over the previous two seasons, so his 2016-17 mark of 1.19 P/60 entering Monday's outing was eyeing positive regression. A strong conclusion to the campaign is well within reach, and Faulk should continued to be viewed as a solid fantasy asset.

Faulk snapped a nine-game pointless drought with his 12th goal of the season during Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a downward slide for Faulk ever since he scored a career-high 49 points two seasons ago. He registered 37 points in an injury-riddled campaign last season, and this year he's on pace for something in the 30-35 point range. From a fantasy perspective, Faulk is a high-risk proposition every year, as you never really know what kind of output to expect. On top of that, his atrocious plus-minus numbers (currently minus-15) will not help you in leagues that reward for that stat category. Faulk is a good plug-and-play option for daily formats, but owners in full-year leagues will want to think twice.

Faulk (illness) was on the ice for morning skate Sunday and is expected to play in the evening's contest.
EDGE Analysis
Although no official confirmation of his status was provided, it's pretty safe to assume he'll give it a go Sunday evening considering it was an illness holding him out of practice Saturday. The 24-year-old blueliner remains a major offensive contributor for the Hurricanes and fantasy owners alike, possessing 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) through 47 games. Faulk's minus-17 rating remains his largest drawback, but it shouldn't deter anyone from using him in season-long or daily lineups Sunday.
