Faulk scored a goal and an assist, both on the power play, in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Senators.
EDGE Analysis
He opened the scoring just 72 seconds into the game with his third goal of the season, then helped set up Justin Williams for the game-winner midway through the third period. The multi-point performance was Faulk's first since Oct, 13, and the blueliner now has a modest 15 points in 41 games on the year.

Faulk scored his second goal of the season in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Bruins, giving him four points in his last five games.
EDGE Analysis
After a month-long, 12-game pointless skid, Faulk certainly does seem to be back on track, scoring-wise. However, the question remains -- will Faulk's hot streak continue following the holiday break, or will he revert back to his usual quiet self? Only time will tell, but either way, Faulk remains a huge fantasy risk and should only be counted on in deeper formats.

Faulk snapped a 12-game pointless drought with an assist in Friday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
Once thought to be emerging as one of the game's elite scoring defensemen with 49 points back in 2014-15, Faulk has all but slipped into obscurity since then. He continues to skate in a top-four capacity opposite Calvin de Haan on the Canes' second defensive pairing, but with just nine points in 31 games, he may just barely crack the 20-point mark this season. A fresh start with a new team may ultimately be what Faulk needs to jump-start his career again.

Faulk went pointless for the seventh consecutive game Friday against the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
Fantasy owners know full well that this is not unusual for Faulk -- he can get hot for a few games, then disappear for long stretches. Now with just eight points in 25 games, he will be lucky to crack the 30-point mark this season, given his current pace. Faulk is best left to the waiver wire in most standard formats.

Faulk has just three assists in his last 10 games, and just eight points on the season thus far (1 goal, 7 assists).
EDGE Analysis
Faulk scored a career-high 49 points back in 2014-15 and, at the time, looked to be establishing himself as an elite scoring defenseman for years to come. Unfortunately, it's been all downhill for Faulk since then, as his point totals have consistently landed in the mid-30's ever since that record season four years ago. Now skating on the Canes' second defensive pairing with Calvin de Haan, he is currently on pace for yet another 30-plus campaign, giving him only modest fantasy value in most formats.

Faulk snapped a three-game point drought with an assist in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Coyotes.
EDGE Analysis
Now with just six points through 13 games, Faulk is trending towards a 35-40 point campaign, which is roughly in line with his output over the past three seasons. He's still seeing a ton of ice time, however -- 23:35 against the 'Yotes, including a whopping 6:29 on the power play -- so his opportunities to contribute offensively should remain plentiful.

Faulk, who sustained an upper-body injury to cut his 2017-18 campaign short, could slide down the depth chart in favor of Brett Pesce this season, Scott Burnside of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
As noted in this report, the Hurricanes have impressive depth on the blue line. Calvin de Haan signed as a free agent in July, and Faulk himself remains with the Canes despite rampant speculation earlier in the summer that he'd be on the move. Carolina's 2010 second-round (37th overall) draft pick has registered point totals of 37, 37 and 31 over the last three seasons, respectively, but he's posted an egregious minus-109 rating over seven years of service time in Raleigh. Sure, the Hurricanes allowed the fewest shots per game (28.9) last year, though it remains to be seen how much longer the Eastern Conference club will be able to tolerate Faulk's defensive miscues.

Faulk (upper body) is garnering league-wide attention, as he's a candidate to be traded with the Hurricanes said to be in the market for a goaltender, NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Hurricanes figured they'd found a viable successor to veteran Cam Ward by signing Scott Darling to a four-year, $16.6 million contract last May, but Darling was a bust this year based on his 13-21-7 record, 3.18 GAA and .888 save percentage. Still, we can safely deduce that it will take a lot for the 'Canes to part with Faulk, who missed the final three games with an injury. The mobile offensive defenseman has averaged 0.47 points per game over seven years with Carolina and he's averaged 22-plus minutes ever since his rookie campaign in 2011-12. For what it's worth, forward Jeff Skinner is another Hurricanes player that other teams have inquired about ahead of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and free agency.

Faulk (upper body) took a step back in 2017-18, finishing with just 31 points in 76 games (8 goals, 23 assists), along with a career-worst minus-26 rating.
EDGE Analysis
Although he enjoyed a solid stretch to close the season with nine points in his last 14 games before succumbing to a season-ending injury, this does not excuse Faulk for his disastrous first half, in which he scored just 11 points over his first 41 games. In fact, the 26-year-old blueliner has done nothing but regress over the past three seasons, ever since scoring a career-high 49 points back in 2014-15. Looking ahead, Faulk is now entering his second-last year of a six-year, $29 million contract extension, and it wouldn't surprise us to see him wind up on the trading block as the team looks to upgrade its offense. If Faulk suddenly wound up in a top-four role with a Stanley Cup contender, it would serve as a definite boost to his fantasy value. This is a possible scenario fantasy owners should be keeping an eye out for this summer.

Coach Bill Peters told reporters he doesn't expect Faulk (upper body) to suit up in either of the team's last two outings, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Faulk will miss a total of six of the Canes' final eight contests due to his upper-body issue. The defenseman struggled to find the back of the net this season (just eight goals), but still cracked the 30-point threshold for the fifth straight year. Heading into the 2018-19 campaign, fantasy owners should anticipate more of the same from the St. Paul native, who has been one of the few consistent producers for Carolina.
