Bernier stopped all 22 shots he faced Friday in shutting out the Rochester Americans in his first conditioning start in the AHL. It was his first victory anywhere since April 5 against the Ottawa Senators.
EDGE Analysis
His 0-8-1 record, 3.28 goals-against average and .888 save percentage with the Leafs rank among the worse in the NHL. This AHL stint is designed to get Bernie's confidence back on track, so Friday was a good start. He is expected to get a couple more starts this weekend.

Bernier will be assigned to the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate for a conditioning assignment upon James Reimer's return from injury, Elliote Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has steadily regressed since joining the Leafs in 2013-14, and he has hit rock bottom this season. Bernier is 0-8-1 with a 3.28 goals against average and .888 save percentage, and has been missing out on starts to rookie Garret Sparks during James Reimer's injury absence. Toronto will be hoping that Bernier can rediscover his game during his 15-day conditioning stint.

Bernier, who has struggled this season, has been relegated to the role of back up for Monday's game against Edmonton. When asked where the team goes from here with Bernier, coach Mike Babcock told reporters after Monday's practice, "I don't know."
EDGE Analysis
"He [Bernier] has got to rebound but at what expense?" continued Babcock. "I just know that [Garret] Sparks gets an opportunity today." The goalie and the coach are clearly both frustrated with the tender's performance to date, but lines of communication between the two are open. Given his struggles, Bernier isn't trade worthy and he needs to rebuild his confidence to even return to the blue paint. Every goalie goes through this, even the best, but the bright lights in Toronto are making this difficult for the once bright prospect.

Bernier made 19 saves Saturday in a 4-2 loss to Washington. He struggled early in the game and then again in the second to relinquish the lead.
EDGE Analysis
The are many adjectives to describe his game, but none of them are very good. Bernier is a shell of the guy who impressed as a backup in L.A. -- cripes, he still hasn't gotten a win this season. His confidence was crumbled and that makes him a horrible fantasy play, at least for now.

Bernier will be in the crease as Saturday's home starter against the Capitals, David Alter of National Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier heads between the pipes with James Reimer (undisclosed) unfit to play. It's been a forgettable season for Bernier thus far, as he hasn't won in eight starts and his rate stats (3.17 GAA, .895 save percentage) are hard to stomach.

Bernier stopped 26 shots Sunday in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers. He was shaky throughout the game, surrendering juicy rebounds that led to many Ranger chances, including the game-winning goal.
EDGE Analysis
He misplayed Derek Stepan's shot from center-ice and the puck went under his pads. And the Mats Zuccarello poked the winner home after Bernie gave up a tater in the slot off a Ryan McDonagh bomb from the point. He's coming off injury, but that's no excuse. Bernier simply isn't good enough to be a starter right now.

Bernier will start in the cage Sunday against the Rangers, Jonas Siegel of TSN 1050 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier returned to the bench for the Maple Leafs Thursday after a stint on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, and Sunday will mark his first start since the return. The netminder is still searching for his first victory of the season, but he'll face a tough task to get it Sunday against a Rangers team scoring 3.60 goals per game at home this season.

Bernier will serve as James Reimer's backup in Thursday's game against the Predators, TSN's Mark Masters reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has missed Toronto's last five games with a lower-body injury, but was activated off of injured reserve Wednesday, and will return to the Maple Leafs' lineup as Reimer's backup for Thursday's matchup with Nashville. Bernier will likely need to log a number of full practices before receiving the starting nod, but he could be between the pipes as soon as Saturday against the Canucks.

Bernier (lower body) was activated off of injured reserve on Wednesday, Dhiren Mahiban of The Canadian Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has missed the Leafs' last five contests, and though he has been activated, there is no word on whether Bernier will be in net Thursday to take on Nashville. When Bernier has played this year, he has been brutal, posting a 0-6-1 record, 3.02 goals against average, and .899 save percentage.

Bernier (lower body) won't suit up for Tuesday's tilt against the Stars, TSN's Mark Masters reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier was a limited participant in Monday's practice, but is still listed as day-to-day, and won't return to the Leaf's lineup Tuesday against Dallas. Antoine Bibeau will serve as James Reimer's backup in Tuesday's matchup with the Stars.
