Bernier stopped 28 of 31 shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran netminder took a 2-1 lead into the third period but couldn't make it hold up, and Bernier now sports an ugly 1-6-2 record over his last nine outings with a 3.65 GAA and .888 save percentage. Unless Jimmy Howard gets hurt, don't look for the Wings to turn to Bernier more often than they absolutely have to in the second half.

Bernier will patrol the crease against the Canucks on Sunday, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has made just one start in January, allowing three goals on 26 shots in a loss to Winnipeg on Jan. 11. It's been a brutal season for the 30-year-old who is posting career worsts in GAA (3.54) and save percentage (.892). His awful play has lead to a 5-11-2 record and has virtually no fantasy value at this point.

Bernier will be in net Friday on the road versus the Jets, Scott Billeck of The Winnipeg Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has not played since losing his last start back on Dec. 29. He'll be in goal Friday when Detroit travels to Winnipeg to take on a Jets team that's posted a 15-6-2 record at home this season. Bernier, in away starts this season, holds a 4-6-2 record. The numbers don't exactly point to a favorable outcome for the 30-year-old.

Bernier allowed five goals on 42 shots in Saturday's 5-1 road loss to the Stars.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier was a sieve in this one, but it didn't help matters that the Stars were on point with their stretch passes and the Wings were outmatched 15 to 23 in high-danger scoring chances. Detroit's primary backup only has five wins in 18 games, and one would think that he'd have to elevate his game in a major way before the Original Six club would seriously consider trading No. 1 netminder Jimmy Howard.

Bernier led his team out to the ice for pregame warmups Saturday, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports. As a result, we can safely assume he'll be the road starter versus the Stars.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier prevailed over the Stars in an Oct. 28 home start, stopping 28 of 30 shots in the process, but we're a bit wary of his chances to double up against them two months later. As colorfully illustrated in a report by Sean Shapiro of The Athletic, Stars management publicly called out captain Jamie Benn and stud center Tyler Seguin for not meeting performance expectations, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them step up to the detriment of Bernier and the Wings. Detroit's backup goalie has awful numbers, including a 5-9-2 record, 3.47 GAA and .893 save percentage through 30 games.

Bernier surrendered five even-strength goals in Sunday's 5-4 overtime road loss to the Maple Leafs.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Jimmy Howard was put to work against the Panthers on Saturday and lost, Bernier was back in goal against his former team. Ironically, the journeyman eked out a 5-4 overtime road win over the Leafs on Dec. 6, but the hosts flipped that same score in their favor this time around thanks to Kasperi Kapenen's slippery backhand goal, his second of the game.

Bernier will man the crease against the Maple Leafs on Sunday, Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a rough first year for Bernier in Detroit, who's posting career lows in GAA (3.38) and save percentage (.898) along with a 5-9-1 record. He last faced Toronto on Dec. 6, allowing four goals on 31 shots in a 5-4 victory. He'll be hard to trust against this powerhouse offense again.

Despite a previous report that confirmed Bernier would be in goal Saturday, Jimmy Howard ended up getting the starting nod against Florida.
EDGE Analysis
With Howard in goal against the Panthers, Bernier will almost certainly start between the pipes in Sunday's matchup with Toronto.

Bernier will field shots from the Panthers at home Saturday, Dave Hogg of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier turned in one of his best starts of the season Thursday, as he stormed into PNC Arena and yielded just one goal on 39 shots en route to his fifth victory. It's always strange to see a career backup goalie draw consecutive starts, but then again, No. 1 goalie Jimmy Howard has been bothered by a minor back injury and the Wings will want to preserve him for Sunday's road game against the prolific puck-pushing Maple Leafs. The first order of business is for Bernier to try and fend off the Panthers, who currently sit in the basement of the Atlantic Division standings at 13-14-6.

Bernier set aside 38 of 39 shots en route to a 4-1 road win over the Hurricanes on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier stood on his head to help the Wings snap a four-game losing streak. The only goal that he allowed was a filthy top shelf snapshot from 18-year-old rookie Andrei Svechnikov, and this was a particularly clutch effort from Bernier since it afforded traditional starter Jimmy Howard -- who was technically available as the backup -- more time to heal from his back injury.
