Franzen left Friday's game with leg spasms and said he'll probably play Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Stephen Whyno of the Canadian Press reports.
The injury doesn't sound very serious, and fantasy owners should see him back out on the ice again this weekend.

Franzen will not return to Friday's game after suffering a lower-body injury in the second period, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Franzen won't have a chance to net a hat trick after scoring two goals in the first two periods of Friday's game. The team should provide an update on Franzen's status in the next few days to shed some light on how much time the veteran winger may miss.

Franzen went to the locker room with four minutes left in the second period for an undisclosed reason, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Franzen scored two goals and attempted three shots in 9:07 of ice time before heading to the locker room late in the second period for an undisclosed reason. The team hasn't released any information regarding the situation, but whether or not he takes the ice to start the third period could be an indication of whether he will return Friday or not.

Franzen picked up two assists, two PIM and two shots on goal in Thursday's season-opening win over the Bruins.
It's no secret that Franzen has tantalizing offensive talent, but it's impossible to count on the oft-injured 34-year-old staying healthy for a full campaign. Still, as long as he's in the Wings' lineup, fantasy owners will enjoy having him in theirs.

Johan Franzen didn't have an issue with his performance this season.
"You can only go out there and do your best," Franzen said. "Sometimes, the goals don't come. But it's not that you're not trying hard. It was a hard season. The concussion was a problem. It didn't want to go away. But I was happy with my season before the concussion and afterwards." In 54 games, he contributed 16 goals and 41 points. Franzen didn't have a goal and he contributed two assists in Detroit's first-round playoff loss to Boston. He can be maddeningly inconsistent, but the Wings are unlikely to use an amnesty buyout on the remaining six years of his contract. Still, they will probably be looking for more from him next season.

Johan Franzen registered an assist in a 4-2 loss to Boston on Saturday.
Franzen wasn't as productive as the Red Wings would have liked and that contributed to the fact that the Bruins won the first round series in five games. Franzen ended up with two assists in five postseason contests after getting 41 points in 54 regular season games.

Detroit coach Mike Babcock seems to be getting a little impatient with Johan Franzen's lack of production.
The Mule has yet to score in four playoff games and he has not been particularly dangerous in the Bruins' zone. "He's got to get himself going, just like all of us," Babcock said. "Obviously, we've talked to him, tried to put him in the best situations to be successful, but like every guy on your team, collectively as a group and individually, we haven't had our best. So you got to find a way to get more. That's your obligation to your teammates and to yourself. You ask yourself, 'Am I playing at the level I'm capable of playing?' And if you're not, then we need more." Sounds like Babcock is almost pleading with Franzen to give a better effort.

Johan Franzen has been turning down media requests during the playoffs and that's come as a surprise to Red Wings coach Mike Babcock.
"To me, if you just step right up and just talk, it makes it easy," Babcock said. "But when you don't, things build and then I think that puts more pressure on yourself. I don't know why you do that." Babcock went on to suggest that Franzen should have the hard interview to get it over with. Detroit is down 3-1 in its first round series against Boston and Franzen has no goals and one assist in the series.

If Detroit is to have any chance of knocking off the heavily favored Boston Bruins, Johan Franzen will have to score as he has in past playoff series.
Franzen is one of the NHL's top post-season performers. He as scored 31 goals and registered 59 points in 51 career playoff games. The Wings are going to need that type of production and a whole lot more from others if they are to get by the big, bad Bruins.

Johan Franzen skated with Daniel Alfredsson and Darren Helm on Wednesday.
Coach Mike Babcock did some line shuffling, so it's unclear what combinations he'll have for Game 1 against Boston on Friday night. Luke Glendening centered Drew Miller and David Legwand, while Riley Sheahan played between Tomas Tatar and Tomas Jurco and Pavel Datsyuk was flanked by Justin Abdelkader and Gustav Nyquist.
