Franzen tallied two assists and three shots on goal in Wednesday's win over the Devils. The slate has been fairly dry of late for Franzen, who has accumulated four points over his last nine games. He made the most of his 13:37 of ice time Wednesday, but his standing on the Red Wings' third line may not improve his chances of piling up points at a steady clip anytime soon.

Franzen (illness) has been cleared to play Friday against the Islanders, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports. After skipping Tuesday's game with the illness, Franzen returned to the ice for Thursday's practice and looked to be feeling significantly better. The forward said he's been battling the stomach flu off-and-on for the past three weeks, but passed all tests for the mumps conducted by the team's medical staff. The illness has surely impacted his play of late, as he's gone 12 games without a goal after potting six in his first 13 contests. Now that he's seemingly recharged, Franzen will likely form a trio with Riley Sheahan and Tomas Jurco on Friday.

Franzen (illness) is expected to play Friday against the Islanders, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. It doesn't sound like Franzen has experienced any symptoms related to the mumps virus that has been making its way around the league, so with a couple more days to recuperate, he should be ready to play. His availability for Friday's game should be confirmed after the Red Wings hold their morning skate that day.

Franzen will not play Tuesday due to an illness, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. It's not clear what type of sickness Franzen is dealing with, but it will prevent him from taking the ice Tuesday night. Consider him questionable for Detroit's next game Friday.

Franzen chipped in with an assist, three shots on goal and four penalty minutes in Sunday's victory over the Red Wings. Franzen hasn't been able to find twine since Nov. 20, spanning nine games, but it hasn't been for a dramatic lack in shot attempts. The bad puck luck figures to end for him eventually, and he's at least been able to stay reasonably productive during the goal drought by setting up others. He's notched an assist in five of his last six games to bring his point total up to 18 for the season.

Franzen added an assist to a 5-0 win over Columbus on Tuesday. Franzen just keeps chugging along with his point-a-game average, as he now has five goals and seven assists in 12 games. When he's been healthy, he's been stellar this season.

Franzen scored a goal and added an assist in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Lightning. The two point effort ran his streak to four in a row with at least one point, and was his second straight with a goal. He's off to a great start with 10 points in nine games, and appears to just be heating up.

Franzen potted the game-winning goal in Friday's 4-2 victory over the Devils. After being held off the scoresheet in his return from injured reserve last Sunday, Franzen has now provided a point in each of his last three games. If health permits, the 34-year-old could make a run at a 50-point season.

Franzen had four shots on goal in 16 minutes of action Sunday in a 3-2 shootout loss to Buffalo. It's going to take Franzen a couple games to get back into the swing of things, but he did contribute offensively despite being held off the scoresheet. It shouldn't be too long before Franzen finds the back of the net again.

The Red Wings no longer list Franzen (groin) as being on IR. Franzen's activation means that he has been cleared to play and, as expected, will be in the lineup Sunday against the Sabres. The veteran winger started out the season red hot with two goals and three assists through the first four games, and should be immediately reinserted into fantasy lineups.
