Johan Franzen didn't have an issue with his performance this season. "You can only go out there and do your best," Franzen said. "Sometimes, the goals don't come. But it's not that you're not trying hard. It was a hard season. The concussion was a problem. It didn't want to go away. But I was happy with my season before the concussion and afterwards." In 54 games, he contributed 16 goals and 41 points. Franzen didn't have a goal and he contributed two assists in Detroit's first-round playoff loss to Boston. He can be maddeningly inconsistent, but the Wings are unlikely to use an amnesty buyout on the remaining six years of his contract. Still, they will probably be looking for more from him next season.
