Joey MacDonald notched 23 saves in Calgary's 5-4 win over the Coyotes on Sunday night.
MacDonald wasn't all that great in this one, but he did enough to keep his team in the game. He has filled in admirably with Miikka Kiprusoff (knee) on the shelf. The 33-year-old has a 2.85 goals-against average and .901 save percentage on the season.

Calgary coach Joey MacDonald has been run over twice in the Flames' crease during his past two games and coach Bob Hartley is furious about it.
"That's something I hope the (National Hockey League) is going to be looking at," Hartley said shortly after his team - powered by MacDonald's netminding and Matt Stajan's two goals - dumped the Minnesota Wild 3-1 on Saturday night. "Not from a standpoint of (only) Joey MacDonald ... but for goalies, the blue paint is almost like toll booths right now. Players come in and they just drive those nets. There's already been a few goalies getting injured because of contact. (First-string Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff) is one of them. So I think that has to stop. Maybe a two-minute penalty is just not enough." Wednesday, it had been Trevor Lewis, of the Los Angeles Kings, who thumped MacDonald back into his net - basically straight on. Saturday, it was Jason Zucker, who, taking a shortcut through MacDonald's crease, had knocked out the right leg of the netminder. In both cases, MacDonald was shaken up and the intruders were penalized with minors.

The Los Angeles Kings beat Joey MacDonald and the Calgary Flames 3-2 on Wednesday.
MacDonald is now 1-2-0 in 2013. He made 30 out of 33 saves. The journeyman goalie isn't really worth looking at unless you're in the deepest of leagues and most desperate of situations.

Joey MacDonald will start for the Calgary Flames on Sunday.
"When we claimed Joey MacDonald off waivers we did so with the expectation that he would play games for us," Flames GM Jay Feaster said. "Now that he has seen some game action we intend to use him more." It looks like MacDonald might settle in as the Flames' backup once Miikka Kiprusoff (knee) is healthy.

Joey MacDonald has been claimed off of waivers by the Calgary Flames.
With Miikka Kiprusoff (knee) sidelined, MacDonald might have some very short term value. However, Kiprusoff might return as early as this week and if that happens, MacDonald will be the Flames' backup goaltender at best.
