Joey MacDonald made only 20 saves in the Calgary Flames' 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars Monday night. Miikka Kiprusoff is back in Calgary to be with his wife who just gave birth. The Flames next games take place against the Nashville Predators on Thursday and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday. Look for Kipper to be back in nets later this week.

Look for Joey MacDonald to get the start in goal for Calgary Monday. The Flames take on the Dallas Stars and with starter Miikka Kiprusoff back in Calgary to be with his wife who just gave birth, MacDonald is the likely starter. He is 3-4-1 this season with a 2.85 GAA and a .900 save percentage. The Flames recalled Daniel Taylor to back up MacDonald until Kiprusoff returns.

Joey MacDonald made 19 saves in the Calgary Flames 3-1 loss to the LA Kings. MacDonals played as well as a back-up is expected to play, only allowing two goals and giving the offense a chance to win the game. With Miikka Kiprusoff back from injury, expect MacDonald to be relegated to back up duties until Kipper either gets hurt again or traded.

It looks like Joey MacDonald will be between the pipes for Calgary Monday against Los Angeles. Miikka Kiprusoff was shelled by the Kings Saturday night when he allowed six goals on 22 shots in a 6-2 loss. MacDonald owns a 3-3-1 record with a .900 save percentage and a 2.96 GAA in eight appearances this campaign.

Joey MacDonald will probably get a start in the near future. Miikka Kiprusoff is expected to play on Friday, but the Flames are about to enter a stretch of three games in four days and four games in six days. "We have two goalies that can win games, that can play, that can contribute to the team's success," Flames coach Bob Hartley said. "That's a good feeling." MacDonald has a 3-3-1 record, 3.05 GAA, and .899 save percentage in seven games this season.

Joey MacDonald will earn another start in goal for the Flames as they take on Vancouver Sunday. MacDonald has taken over from Leland Irving as the Flames primary net minder in the absence of starter Miikka Kiprusoff and has been adequate, but Kiprusoff is nearing a return, meaning the journeyman's stint as the Calgary starter will soon be coming to an end.

Joey MacDonald sticked away 31 of 36 shots against on Thursday night in the Flames' 5-4 loss to the Avalanche. A below average defense and below average goaltender were exposed in this one, as a 3-0 lead whithered away. There's a reason why MacDonald, who has become the number one with Miikka Kiprusoff sidelined, is a back up -- he might look OK in isolated starts, but eventually it all comes undone if he's starting night after night. MacDonald has a 3.04 goals-against average and .899 save percentage on the season.

Flames coach Bob Hartley didn't blame Joey MacDonald for Tuesday's 2-1 loss. MacDonald kicked out 28 of 30 shots. "We wasted the best goaltending performance we had all year," Hartley said. Look for MacDonald to continue to serve as the team's starter until Miikka Kiprusoff has recovered from his knee injury.

Joey MacDonald is the likely starter in net Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild. MacDonald has filled in admirably since starter Miikka Kiprusoff (knee) went down, but owners should remember he's been a career backup for a reason. On the season, MacDonald is 3-2-0 with a 2.85 and .901 save percentage.
