Fast (knee) skated in a non-contact jersey Sunday morning, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.Fast has been out since early February with a knee strain, but appears to be progressing. He's expected to be a full participant in practice this week, which could indicate his return is on the horizon.

Coach Alain Vigneault noted that Fast (sprained right knee) should resume skating "within the next week," northjersey.com reports.Fast -- who last suited up on Feb. 7 -- was riding a stationary bicycle on Thursday, a sign of progress, but based on the report, the forward's return to the Rangers' lineup is not imminent.

Fast will be out for two-to-three weeks, after suffering a sprained knee during Saturday's game against the Predators Fast was quickly ruled out for Sunday's game against Dallas, hinting at a fairly serious injury. Such suspicions were confirmed after Sunday's contest, when Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said Fast will miss the next two-to-three weeks. A move to injured reserve will likely come in short order.

Fast was removed from Saturday's game against the Predators in the second period with a leg injury and will not return, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Fast suffered the injury when he collided into the boards with Predators defenseman Anton Volchenkov. He'll be listed as day-to-day, but his chances of playing Sunday against the Stars wouldn't appear promising.

Fast collected an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's win over the Hurricanes. That's two points in three games for the young Swede. After finding the net in the first tilt of 2015, the 23-year-old Fast went eight straight without a point. While he has just eight points through 34 games, it's encouraging to see the 23-year-old start to increase his production as the season grows.

Fast, who snapped a 10-game goalless drought recently, has just three goals and six points in 23 games played. The sophomore Swede has been averaging third line minutes alongside Kevin Hayes and Carl Hagelin and has ton of upside, but has not flashed much of it. Even if he were to catch fire, there's not much of a chance he would be promoted beyond his third line duties, seriously saddling his speculative fantasy value, but there's no telling with mad-scientist and head coach Alain Vigneault behind the bench.

Fast registered a minus-1 and one shot on goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Devils. The young swede has been very quiet during his current six game point-scoring drought, logging just three shots on goals and a minus-3 rating and averaging 11-minutes a game. The 23-year-old has just two goals and three assists in 21 games played.

Fast notched his first career NHL goal midway through the second period as the Rangers defeated the Flyers 5-2 on Saturday. It took a total of 22 games, but the Swedish winger finally notched his first NHL goal. A natural goal scorer, it's a little surprising that it has taken this long for Fast to find he back of the net, but he also hasn't shot the puck much with just 15 shots in 22 games. He's been used sparingly by head coach Alain Vigneault, but hopefully that will change when Fast gets more confidence.

The Rangers recalled Fast from AHL Hartford on Monday, Andrew Gross of the Record reports. The reassignments of Conor Allen and Ryan Malone on Monday freed up two roster spots, one of which will be taken up by Fast. The winger has a goal and eight assists through 11 games with AHL Hartford to date.
