Fast notched the Rangers' only goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss at the hands of the Blackhawks.
EDGE Analysis
It was a lovely goal, with Fast using his arm to serve an airborne puck to himself and then swatting it with his stick, lacrosse-style, past Scott Darling. In fact, you can make a strong argument that it's a more impressive goal than Sidney Crosby's similar highlight from Monday night. Fast has gathered 13 points in 31 games despite largely playing a bottom-six role with no power-play time, so owners in deep formats can probably make use of the Swede's strong plus-minus and occasional scoring.

Fast collected a pair of helpers in a massive 7-2 win over the Canucks on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Fast was one of seven (!) Blueshirts to post a multi-point game at the expense of the lowly Canucks. Despite averaging a modest 13:29 of ice time this season, he now has six points over his last seven games and 10 in 17 contests on the year.

Fast has three assists through six games this year, but he's failed to score a goal and has only put three shots on net.
EDGE Analysis
The Swedish winger's ice time is down by more than two minutes from last year's 14:56 to this season's 12:41, and he wasn't exactly a prolific shooter before (75 in 79 games last season). Even though he's got those helpers, Fast owns precious little fantasy value outside very deep formats.

Fast is expected to again serve as a penalty killer this year, Blueshirt Banter reports.
EDGE Analysis
After averaging 2:17 shorthanded last season, Fast is already one of the Rangers' more experienced hands with a man in the box. His scoring improved last season as he bounced between the second and third lines; continued improvement in Fast's age-24 campaign could help him lock in a top-six role, but that won't be easy with the Rangers' wealth of forward talent.

Fast recorded two assists in Sunday's overtime loss to the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't the result New York wanted, but the Rangers' third line had a productive night, combining for two goals and six points. Fast only has 28 points (10 goals) in 73 games, but he's skating with Eric Staal and Kevin Hayes, so there is a chance for more production. While he doesn't play on the power play, the 24-year-old is a decent depth scorer who is valuable in some deeper leagues.

In a bit of a surprise, Fast (illness) will actually play Thursday against the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
An earlier report indicated that Fast would not travel with the team to Pittsburgh, but it appears a night's rest did the trick. The Record's Andrew Gross reports that he's slated to rejoin the second line with Derrick Brassard and J.T. Miller, but he's tallied just one point in his last eight games, so any production would be useful at this point.

Fast (illness) will not go with the Rangers when they travel to Pittsburgh for Thursday's game against the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
The news rules him out for the contest, with the team also indicating that they will recall another forward on emergency conditions before the contest. Thursday marks Fast's second straight game missed because of the flu, but it probably won't cost him too much more time. Expect another update before the team's next game Friday against the Capitals, with 24-year-old winger likely slotting back into a top-six role when healthy.

Fast missed practice Monday with flu symptoms.
EDGE Analysis
Perhaps he's sick or perhaps he just partied too hard while watching Sunday night's Oscars -- who can say? Either way, the 24-year-old winger seems like he could sit out Monday night's game against Columbus, in which case the Rangers would have to make a call-up in order to avoid dressing seven defensemen.

As expected, Fast (nose) will be in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Stars.
EDGE Analysis
Fast suffered a broken nose in Friday's practice, but that injury won't hold the speedy winger out of Saturday's matchup with Dallas, as he'll simply wear a full facial shield to protect his banged-up face during game action. The former sixth-round pick is expected to skate alongside J.T. Miller and Derick Brassard on the Rangers' second line in Saturday's tilt.

Fast suffered a broken nose at practice Friday, but is expected to dress Saturday against the Stars.
EDGE Analysis
It wouldn't be surprising if Fast decides to go with a full shield Saturday to protect his nose, but he should be available for the contest. The winger has seen a lot of extra ice time since breaking into the top six, and has tallied 21 points (eight goals) in 59 contests this season. He's also seen time on the second power play unit recently, but that hasn't resulted in a point on the man advantage yet. However, it does make him a decent value play for those in daily contests. Expect another update on Fast in advance of Saturday's contest, confirming his status.
