Petry snapped off a game-high seven shots on goal over a season-high 26:37 of ice time in Montreal's 4-2 loss to Minnesota on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Petry, who entered the game with four goals, three assists and 18 shots in his previous five games, had already picked up the offensive side of his game due to injuries to Montreal's forward corps. And now with Andrei Markov (lower body) heading to injured reserve, that offense is needed more than ever. With Markov ailing, the 29-year-old Petry has averaged nearly 26 minutes of ice time, including 6:43 on the power play, over the last two games.

Petry lit the lamp, adding two assists -- one on the power play -- and a plus-2 rating during Tuesday's 5-1 win against the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
Petry has built himself a three-game point streak, but this was his best outing of that short stretch. The blueliner scored in each contest and in four of the last five, showcasing an attacking mindset that hasn't been unleashed during his entire career. Petry's milestone in a season is seven tallies, a number he's already equaled through 31 games.

Petry scored for the second straight night in a 2-1 victory over the Capitals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
All the sudden, Petry has the scoring touch, as he's scored three goals and four points in the last four games. There last contest where he didn't score, he recorded five shots on goal. That was a season high until Saturday when Petry had six shots on net. He now has six goals and 13 points this season.

Petry scored his fifth goal of the season in Friday's 4-2 loss to San Jose. He added three shots on goal, four hits and two blocks to his line in 21:43 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
After a nine-game point-less drought, Petry has two goals and as assist in his last three games. The Ann Arbor native has 12 points through 29 games, a career-best .41 points-per-game pace. His plus-7 rating is a career high while he's among the team leaders in hits and blocks. The 29-year-old is not the first player you think of when considering a Montreal defenseman, but Petry is a blue-line sleeper that averages nearly two minutes of power-play ice time per game.

Petry scored a goal and added an assist with three shots on net and three hits during Friday's loss to Carolina.
EDGE Analysis
While it was his first goal in 15 games, Petry has continued to post respectable numbers in the peripheral categories. For the season, the 28-year-old veteran has nine points -- three goals -- with a plus-6 rating, eight PIM, 29 shots on net, 39 blocked shots and 35 hits through 17 games. Petry's not a go-to fantasy defenseman, but his cross-category production makes him a useful option to round out your blue line.

Petry picked up a power-play assist in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
After four points in his first two games this season, Petry predictably cooled off, going three straight without hitting the scoresheet. However, he's continued seeing steady power-play time -- although only a season-low 53 seconds Wednesday because the Isles took just one penalty and the Habs promptly capitalized -- so he'll have plenty more opportunities to get on the scoresheet. Just don't let your expectations climb too high, as this isn't a guy with much of a track record on offense.

Petry notched a pair of assists, a plus-3 rating, three hits and four blocked shots in Tuesday's 4-0 shutout of the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
He didn't take a shot on goal, but no one's complaining -- after all, Petry's put up a full quarter of his 2015-16 point total in a span of just two games after missing the season opener with a knee issue. Both of his assists were of the primary variety, but it merits mentioning that Petry's history on offense is not an impressive one; he's never been a high scorer at the collegiate or AHL level and only just recorded his 100th (and 101st) NHL points in this game, No. 367 of his career. Fantasy owners would have to consider it a win if he totals even a mediocre 30 points this year.

Petry (knee) scored two goals Saturday night in a 4-3 shootout loss to Ottawa.
EDGE Analysis
One of the snipes came on the power play. Petry's best offensive season came in 2011-12 when he tallied 25 points in 73 games with the Oilers. He's always held promise, but it's never really resulted in actual performance. Instead, Petry has accumulated a combined minus-74 rating over 365 games in six seasons. Nice start, but we need to see more.

Petry (knee) practiced Friday and will return to action Saturday night against Ottawa, Pat Hickey of Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Montreal head coach Michel Therrien said Petry will be a game-time decision, but the defenseman lined up with Andrei Markov on the second defensive pairing during Friday's practice and is very likely to start against the Senators. The Canadiens made room for his activation off the disabled list by waiving Sven Andrighetto on Friday.

Petry (knee) traveled with the team for Thursday night's season opener in Buffalo, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
