Pageau recorded a shorthanded assist and four hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Red Wings.
EDGE Analysis
Pageau set up Cal Clutterbuck for the opening tally just 2:45 into the game. The 29-year-old Pageau has struggled on offense with only five points in 18 contests, though that's a product of the Islanders' poor offense. The Ontario native has added 27 shots on net, 41 hits and a minus-3 rating. He'll continue to fill in on the second line until Brock Nelson (lower body) can return.

Pageau only has one goal and three assists in 14 games for the Islanders this season.
EDGE Analysis
Like most of the forwards for the Islanders, Pageau has struggled to put the biscuit in the basket this season. The loss of Brock Nelson to injured reserve with a lower-body Tuesday means that Pageau will move up to center the second line between Oliver Wahlstrom and Anthony Beauvillier. The Islanders have all sorts of personnel issues right now due to injuries and a Covid-19 outbreak. Pageau will be counted on to provide much more offense than four points in 14 games. If he and his offensive teammates don't pick up the pace, this season could get away from the Islanders before the holiday season truly starts.

Pageau has been moved to the top power-play unit for the Islanders, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The power play for the Islanders has been horrific this season, so one, you could argue that Pageau is only getting the chance because the team has nothing to lose at this point. Pageau may also be getting the opportunity because, with Covid-19 taken forwards such as Anders Lee and Josh Bailey out of the lineup, the Islanders are running out of players with any offensive ability. It doesn't matter. The bottom line is that the Islanders have to change things up as they are 5-41 this season on the power play, which ranks 30th in the NHL.

The Islanders are looking to get more Pageau more playing time than he is currently getting, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pageau has averaged 15:11 of ice time this season, and coach Barry Trotz believes he needs to get Pageau on the ice more to get the best out of him. Pageau did receive an extra 28 seconds of ice time in the Islanders' 6-2 win over the Canadiens on Thursday and rewarded that extra time with his first multi-point game of the season. Whether or not Trotz can keep his promise and give more minutes to Pageau will likely depend on how well Pageau is playing on the third line with Oliver Wahlstrom and Zach Parise, along with how well the top two centers are are playing. The Islanders may not have dynamic goal scoring, but they are deep down the middle with Mathew Barzal, Brock Nelson, Casey Cizikas and Pageau.

Pageau produced an assist, two shots on goal, four hits and two blocked shots in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Golden Knights.
EDGE Analysis
Pageau set up Josh Bailey at 2:16 of the first period, and that was ultimately all the Islanders needed to win. The 28-year-old Pageau has been a little quiet with two helpers in five games so far. The veteran center has added 14 shots, 10 hits and a plus-1 rating, and his third-line role is likely to limit his appeal to deeper fantasy formats and those that reward physical play.

Pageau (illness) was skating at practice for the Islanders on Friday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pageau missed the 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets on Thursday due to the same illness that sidelined Anders Lee on Tuesday. This stomach virus may be running through the entire team, but as of now, no one else is expected to miss any games. Pageau has yet to score a goal this season but does have one assist in three games.

Pageau (illness) won't play Thursday versus the Blue Jackets, Brian Compton of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pageau's illness is not COVID-19-related, so he shouldn't be sidelined for too long. Kieffer Bellows or Ross Johnston will likely replace Pageau in the lineup, and the veteran center will try to be available for Saturday's road game in Arizona.

Pageau (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision for Thursday's clash with Columbus, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pageau's status for Thursday night's contest won't be confirmed until the Islanders take the ice for pregame warmups. The 28-year-old pivot has picked up one assist through three games this campaign.

As expected, Pageau (hand) will be ready for the Islanders' Opening Night matchup with the Hurricanes on Oct. 14, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pageau underwent hand surgery in late-June after the Isles were eliminated by the Lightning in the playoffs, but he was always expected to be ready for the start of the 2021-22 campaign. The 28-year-old forward picked up 14 goals and 28 points while averaging 16:47 of ice time through 54 games last season.

Pageau had surgery on his hand Monday but is expected to be fully fit for the start of the 2021-22 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
News of Pageau's injury shouldn't come as a huge surprise when you consider he went completely absent from the scoresheet in seven games against the Lightning despite having notched 13 points in the prior 12 postseason contests. The center should continue to serve as a mainstay on the third line and should be capable of challenging for the 30-point threshold in addition to logging minutes with the man advantage.
