A season that eventually saw him dealt to the Islanders. The four power-play goals this season already match his total from last year and are just one off his career-high set in both the 19-20 and 20-21 seasons.

The 29-year-old pivot should continue to see middle-six minutes and skate with the second power-play unit, so look for him to break his goalless streak sooner rather than later.

Pageau dished out two assists in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Rangers. He didn't record a shot on goal but supplemented his stat line with two blocked shots, two PIM, seven hits and a plus-2 rating.

Pageau threw his body around in this physical rivalry game but also contributed offensively by assisting on both of Kyle Palmieri's goals. The aging third line of Pageau, Palmieri and Zach Parise came in with one combined goal through six games, so those rostering Pageau in fantasy are likely doing so for his physicality rather than his offense.

Arguably the strongest position group for the Islanders is center. New head coach Lane Lambert has already changed his lines multiple times and benched multiple players to try to shake the team out of their early-season scoring troubles.

The Islanders acquired Pageau from the Ottawa Senators before the trade deadline during the 2019-20 season. The Isles almost immediately signed him to a six-year $30 million contract. It was a curious signing at the time for a player who was essentially a third-line center for the team. In his two full seasons for the team, Pageau only has 32 goals, and 35 assists, along with a rating of plus-10 in 131 games. Pageau may play with rotating linemates again this season, but as of now, it looks like he will open the season flanked by Oliver Wahlstrom and Josh Bailey.
