Spezza scored a goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza tied the game at one in the third period, and then helped out on Zach Hyman's rebound goal as well, but it wasn't enough to change the result. Spezza has impressed with five points in his last five appearances. The 36-year-old has seven points and 22 shots on goal in 13 games overall. He's been in the lineup consistently with the Maple Leafs missing three regular forwards, but as the team gets healthier, Spezza would likely return to a part-time role.

Spezza scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
It was his first goal as a Maple Leaf. Spezza plays limited minutes on an occasional basis, so that makes him all but useless in fantasy. But it's nice to see a Toronto-born guy live out his childhood dream.

Spezza recorded an assist and three shots on goal in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Blues.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza has appeared in only two games this season, and he skated only 8:41 in this contest. The limited role will make it difficult for the Toronto native to match the 27 points he had last season with the Stars. He's safe to avoid from a fantasy perspective.

Spezza will be back in the lineup Monday after sitting out two of the Leafs' first three games.
EDGE Analysis
So far, coach Mike Babcock has been alternating Spezza and Nick Shore as the fourth-line pivot. Neither man is standing out against the other, but neither is causing a problem, either. Spezza's fantasy value is long in the past at this point and that's made worse with part-time play.

Controversy about Spezza's future is swirling in Toronto following Coach Mike Babcock's comments about the center's interest level after Tuesday's exhibition loss to Ottawa, reports Sportsnet.ca.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza inked a league-minimum one-year deal to play pivot on the team's fourth line. But he's neither fast nor rugged, the only two attributes typically carried by players on the bottom line. "He's trying to figure out if he's interested and we're doing the same," said Babcock. It's now the second time the tough-nosed coach has raised the same idea. We don't know if it's to take pressure off the younger players at the start of camp or if it's something else. Spezza signed thinking he'd perhaps still be able to contribute on the power play, but that's not a guarantee given the firepower in blue and white. It's probably best to leave this guy on the wire for now, as he'd likely be released or traded to another team before being sent to the AHL at this point in his storied career.

Spezza signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Maple Leafs on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old joins his hometown team to advance his NHL career for a 17th NHL season. With an elite crop of centers -- including John Tavares, Auston Matthews and William Nylander -- occupying the top six for the Buds, fantasy owners shouldn't expect Spezza to wiggle his way into a position that would yield plentiful returns in the fantasy realm, but the celebrated pivot does have plenty of experience working on the man advantage. With Spezza's best days behind him, you can get him for pennies on the dollar in fantasy drafts this fall.

Spezza wants to keep playing next season, but it won't be with the Stars, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza failed to reach the 30-point mark for a second straight season, a far cry from the 90-point campaigns he put up earlier in his career while playing for Ottawa. At this point, the 35-year-old center will likely have to settle for a bottom-six, power-play specialist role, but the value he'll offer as a veteran leader is undeniable. For fantasy owners, the Toronto native's ceiling likely falls within the 30-35 point range, though that will obviously depend on the quality of players surrounding him.

Spezza scored a goal on his only shot in Friday's 2-1 win over the Blues in Game 5.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza is riding a three-game point streak, with two goals and an assist. He has five points through nine postseason appearances this year, with three of them coming on the man advantage. He's been selective with shooting, putting only 16 shots on goal in the playoffs, but he's making the most of his chances.

Spezza scored a power-play goal in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Blues in Game 4.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza has seen his ice time decrease in the playoffs to 11:01 per game entering the night, and he has been under nine minutes in the last three contests. However, his production has increased with two goals and a helper in four games against the Blues. While he occupies a fourth-line role, the veteran does spend a disproportionate amount of time on the man advantage, which could give him some fantasy appeal.

Spezza scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Blues in Game 1.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza's last goal came on Feb. 24, a span of 20 games during which the veteran managed only three helpers. He was scratched six times between his goals. Spezza has accumulated 67 points (23 goals, 44 helpers) over 74 postseason appearances in his career, but with his current fourth-line deployment, he's not expected to contribute to the offense frequently.
