Spezza scored a goal on four shots and added an assist in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza opened the scoring at 9:29 of the first period and later added the secondary assist on William Nylander's goal near the end of the period. The 37-year-old Spezza has been surprisingly productive in a fourth-line role with a goal and four helpers in eight appearances. The rest he received Tuesday as a healthy scratch versus the Flames appeared to do him some good. That said, Spezza doesn't see enough ice time to be relied on for scoring.

Spezza (rest) will not suit up Tuesday against the Flames, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza isn't in the doghouse, as head coach Sheldon Keefe simply wants to give the veteran forward a day of rest to keep him fresh moving forward. The 37-year-old has averaged 9:12 of ice time and has three assists through seven games. He should be back in the lineup for Thursday's game in Edmonton.

Spezza was waived by the Maple Leafs on Sunday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza averaged just 7:44 of ice time through the first three games this year, posting a power-play assist and three shots on net. The 37-year-old likely will land on the taxi squad if he clears waivers.

Spezza inked a one-year, $700,000 contract with Toronto on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza will return to the Leafs for his 18th NHL season. The 37-year-old natural center has reached the 25-point mark in each of his previous three campaigns and should continue to provide similar value in a bottom-six role next year. Gone are the days of Spezza being an 80-90 point producer but he could still provide some depth fantasy value in deeper formats.

Spezza is hopeful that he'll return to the Maple Leafs for another season in 2020-21, TSN's Kristen Shilton reports.
EDGE Analysis
On a conference call Tuesday, Spezza told reporters "I'm in it for as long as I can be so I can win a Stanley Cup. It's something that I dreamt of as a kid, and I would love nothing more than to do it here in Toronto." Spezza was playing solid hockey as a bottom-six option for the Maple Leafs prior to the NHL's stoppage, totaling nine goals and 25 points while averaging just 10:50 of ice time per contest in 58 appearances. If the 36-year-old pivot does re-sign with Toronto during the offseason, it will almost certainly be on another cheap, one-year deal.

Spezza generated an assist and two shots in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Sabres.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza was responsible for the primary assist on Yegor Korshkov's first career goal. Spezza is up to 22 points, 62 shots and a minus-4 rating through 48 games this year. The 36-year-old will likely continue to see bottom-six minutes, but his production is strong enough to attract a look in deep fantasy formats.

Spezza scored a goal on his only shot of the game in Monday's 5-2 victory versus the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza beat Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne from the right faceoff circle to put Toronto up 4-1 in the second period. It was the seventh goal of the year for Spezza and his first in six games. The 36-year-old has chipped in with 19 points in 38 games in his first season with the Maple Leafs.

Spezza dished out a power-play assist in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
This was Spezza's 1,100th NHL game, and he recorded his 18th point of the season. That's reasonably productive for the 36-year-old since he's used sparingly in the lineup, averaging 10:49 per game and usually sticking to the fourth line.

Spezza has four points (one goal, three assists) in his last six games.
EDGE Analysis
Two of those points have come on the power play. Spezza is buzzing along with 16 points in 31 games. He's a marginal fantasy play in deep leagues, but at least he's making a contribution this late in his career.

Spezza scored a power-play goal Saturday in a 5-2 win over St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
He managed the goal in just nine seconds of work with the man advantage. Spezza's hands have never been debated, but his speed has. His ice time was limited to 9:40 on Saturday. Don't expect huge increases in that or a spot in the lineup every night. Just be glad he can put up points in such limited time. Spezza has actually put up eight points (three goals, five assists) in his last nine appearances (since Nov. 16). There may actually be some low-level fantasy value left in the old man's game.
