Jason Spezza scored two goals in a 2-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday night.
Jason Spezza has finally solved Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers. The All-Star forward opened the scoring, beating Lundqvist in the first period. Spezza converted off a feed from promising rookie Mark Stone. Despite his lack of NHL experience, the addition of the power-forward to the Ottawa lineup is a definite improvement.

Senators coach Paul MacLean was caught on television yelling into the ear of his top offensive player, Jason Spezza, the other night.
"It was more of a reminder that he'd like me to shoot the puck a little more than I do at times," Spezza said Friday, when asked how angry MacLean was with him as the during the one-sided bench conversation as the Senators played catchup with the New York Rangers during Game 4 of their best-of-seven series. "At the time, he (said) he'd like me to hit the net a little more, that I was getting a little fine with my shots. I think he was right. I respect his opinion. Sometimes from up top you see things a little bit easier. It's an easier game from his position sometimes than it is from mine, so it's good to get a reminder sometimes. That just falls back to our relationship and being comfortable with him, and not having to worry about what he says to me and me not taking too personal, and learning from it."

Jason Spezza exited for the locker room with 2:50 left in the second period following a hit from Rangers defenseman Marc Staal.
The Ottawa center appeared to sustain a stinger on the play, but he returned for the third frame and appears to be alright. Spezza has accounted for no goals and two assists in four games versus New York in Ottawa's quarterfinal playoff series.

Jason Spezza registered an assist in Ottawa's 4-2 loss in Game 1 on Thursday.
For the Senators young core, their first round match with the top seed New York Rangers probably won't be much more than a learning experience. If the team is to pull off a stunning upset, then it will probably be on the backs of their veteran stars like Spezza. That's a tall order, but Spezza does have 47 points in 47 postseason contests.

The Ottawa Senators will face the Boston Bruins in the playoffs next week if they can secure one point in their game today against the New Jersey Devils, who are locked in sixth place.
And if the Sens can grab the point, Ottawa star Jason Spezza promises you'll see a different Ottawa team than the one that lacked intensity in a 3-1 loss to the Bruins last Thursday night. ""You can't manufacture real emotion and real desperation," said Spezza, who tied a career high with his 34th against Boston. "You try to as a player, and this time of year can be a little bit different. You see two teams go to war, and play a game that's not as intense as you thought it was going to be, like maybe (Thursday) night physical-wise. We'll play them next week and it will be two totally different hockey clubs."

Jason Spezza scored the lone Ottawa goal in a 3-1 loss to the Bruins Thursday night.
After recording two back to back 57 point seasons, Spezza's stock plummeted in fantasy drafts at the start of the season. However, the talented center is enjoying a great bounce-back year with 34 goals and 84 points in 79 games this season.

With a healthy daughter born Sunday morning, Jason Spezza returns to the Ottawa lineup tonight against visiting Carolina.
Spezza missed Sunday's playoff-clinching win on Long Island while his wife was giving birth to their second child. With 32, Spezza needs two goals to equal the career high he established in 2006-07 and 2007-08. The Sens have three games remaining.

Jason Spezza spent Sunday with his wife Jennifer and their newborn daughter Nicola Patricia, so he he missed Ottawa's 5-1 victory over the New York Islanders.
He is fourth in the league and first on the team with 82 points in 77 games this season, but the team didn't have any problems filling the net in his absence. Still, they will be glad to have him back in the lineup on Tuesday against Carolina when he should return.

The Ottawa Senators won't have Jason Spezza or Daniel Alfredsson in their lineup against the New York Islanders on Sunday.
That's obviously a huge late set of scratches - but in fantasy and reality terms - as those players could be difference-makers in the last day of some matchups and in the Senators' efforts to protect a seventh spot. Make arrangements accordingly if your given league still allows it.
