Jason Spezza scored his fifth goal of the season as the Senators defeated Carolina by a 302 score Tuesday night. Spezza has displayed impressive offensive skill when given the opportunity this year and as a result, he has managed to satisfy those owners who took a chance on him on draft day. Zenon Konopka scored the other Ottawa goal in this game while Sergei Gonchar tallied a pair of assists in the win.

Jason Spezza has earned the NHL's second star of the week. Spezza scored three goals and seven points in three contests with the Senators last week. Ottawa is off to a predictably bad start, but Spezza's strong performances on Thursday and Saturday helped the Senators earn their second and third wins of the season. Injuries have limited Spezza in each of his previous two seasons, but he could reach the 80-point mark if he can stay healthy in 2011-12.

Jason Spezza potted a goal and also registered an assist in the Ottawa's 4-1 victory over the lowly Winnipeg Jets Thursday night. After recording two back to back 57 point seasons, Spezza's stock plummeted all the way down to the sixth or seventh round in drafts this season. Finally healthy, the former number two overall pick has been playing point per game hockey over the past three years and with the return of a healthy Daniel Alfredsson, he could go back to his 80-90 point ways. If by chance Spezza was still available in the sixth or seventh round of your draft and you took a chance on him, good job.

Jason Spezza is finally healthy and is one of the few Senators veterans still in his prime. After recording two back to back 57 point seasons, Spezza's stock has plummeted all the way down to the seventh round in 12-team leagues. Finally healthy, the former number two overall pick has been playing point per game hockey over the past three years and with the return of a healthy Daniel Alfredsson, he could go back to his 80-90 point ways. If by chance Spezza is still available in the seventh round of your draft, take him.

Jason Spezza and Chris Phillips were don the "A" on their jerseys this season. No surprise here. Spezza and Phillips are both very big leaders in the dressing room. Not to mention they are two of the best players on the team.

Jason Spezza is keeping his expectations low this offseason. Spezza is coming off a somewhat poor season considering his talent level. He is spending this offseason in Toronto, working hard to improve his game. He was quoted as saying the Senators made strides thus far and looks forward to a fresh start next season. ƒ?oWins arenƒ?Tt going to come easy for us every night. But, if we work hard, we can compete with anybody.ƒ??

Jason Spezza's all-around game has improved over the course of the past few seasons. After being labeled as a player who doesn't offer the required effort on the defensive end of the ice for a long time, Spezza has worked hard to transform himself into less of a liability in his own end. While it's still too early to be certain, he is currently set to line up on the Senators top line with Daniel Alfredsson and Milan Michalek when the puck drops on opening night.

Jason Spezza is excited about the hiring of new head coach Paul MacLean. "I don't know a lot about him as a person or a coach," Spezza said in a radio interview on Thursday. "But I know some of Babs' philosophies in Detroit, having been given a chance to be around him at the (2010) Olympic camp and stuff, and I really like the way he teaches the game and wants his teams to play. I think Paul will bring that to our team and it can be a real good fit for our club. We have some good defensemen coming up who are puck-possession guys and we have lots of speed. I think (MacLean) knows how to coach a team like that. We're not the Bruins. We have some gritty guys, but we have to play more of a puck possession game to win and he seems like a good fit for that." It will be interesting to see how he handles the team and what system he chooses to utilize during training camp. Having the support and enthusiasm of Spezza should help his cause as well.
