James Reimer (sprained MCL) will go through a light on-ice workout either Tuesday or Wednesday, according to Toronto Maple Leafs GM Dave Nonis.
Nonis said Reimer remains on schedule, which should put the netminder on track to return before the end of February if there are no setbacks. Ben Scrivens has been fantastic in his place, making the Leafs less likely to rush Reimer back. Stay tuned to see how Reimer's workout goes.

James Reimer (knee) has been placed on Toronto's injured reserve list.
He is slated to miss at least a week because of a mild MCL sprain to his knee. The Leafs recalled goalie Jussi Rynnas to take his place alongside Ben Scrivens for the time being.

James Reimer will be sidelined for at least a week after an MRI revealed a mild MCL sprain in his knee.
Reimer left Monday's game after getting hurt during the second period and given how bad the injury looked, an MCL sprain is about as good a diagnosis as owners and the Leafs could have hoped. Expect the Maple Leafs to recall a goalie from the AHL with Reimer out for at least three games. It wouldn't be surprising if he landed on IR to clear up a roster spot, either.

Coach Randy Carlyle does not expect goaltender James Reimer (lower body injury) to be out for an extended period of time.
The injury suffered by Reimer looked bad when it occurred in the second period as he could not get up for a few minutes and needed help getting off the ice but Carlyle in his post-game press conference said that it didn't seem to be serious. That is great news for Leaf fans as Reimer has been giving Toronto solid goaltending in the early going. Consider him day-to-day for now.

James Reimer is cementing himself as the Leafs' number one goalie.
Reimer made 23 saves in the 3-2 win Thursday night, and he's started seven games now. With a 2.61 goals-against average and .920 save percentage, he may not be stealing games, but he's solidifying the goaltending woes. Reimer dealt with a concussion and neck injury last year, and a return to good health seems to be a big reason why he's having success. "I don't want to make excuses," said Reimer. "I don't like when people come out after (a tough period) and say 'Oh this was bothering me.' It seems like it's just an easy way out. "The injury affected me and now, being healthy, it feels good to be out there and doing the most that your body allows you to."
