James Reimer will be between the pipes for Toronto on Wednesday when Pittsburgh visits. Reimer hasn't won a game since Dec. 23, but he hasn't been playing much of late behind Jonas Gustavsson. The Monster has started 11 of the Leafs' last 12 contests, but he dropped a heartbreaking loss to the Penguins on Tuesday in a shootout which reopens the door for Reimer to get his game back on track.

James Reimer allowed three goals on 21 shots in Toronto's 3-2 loss to Ottawa Tuesday night. Reimer had been resting on the sidelines for over two weeks while Jonas Gustavsson earned a few starts until this game, which won't do much to solidify his role with the club. Gustavsson has simply been the better netminder this year.

James Reimer will play between the pipes on Tuesday. Reimer's struggles since returning from a concussion combined with a hot streak from Jonas Gustavsson have resulted into Reimer getting over two weeks off. Although Reimer's overall numbers have been unimpressive this season, we wouldn't be surprised if he does significantly better in the second half of the season. He's not a bad buy low candidate right now.

James Reimer is waiting for his time to return to Toronto's crease, as Jonas Gustavsson has been great and is seeing most of the starts. "Obviously, you want to play," he said. "But when your team is winning and your counterpart is doing so well, it's hard to complain. All you can do is to work hard, enjoy the process and when you do get the chance be ready to go." The Leafs haven't announced their starter for Friday's contest in Buffalo, but Gustavsson pitched a 32-save shutout versus the Sabres on Tuesday and coach Ron Wilson may lean towards going with the hot hand even though it makes sense to play the Monster on Saturday against the New York Rangers. Gustavsson has beaten the Rangers twice already this year.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are at the bottom of the NHL in terms of penalty killing efficiency. This comes on the heels of an off-season where Toronto set out to address their major issues on the penalty kill during the 2010-11 season. While many other aspects of the game can be attributed to talent, skill or speed, penalty killing is thought to be a reflection of the coaching staff and many are calling out Ron Wilson for the tea;s poor efforts. Remember to get your top offensive players in the lineup when they take on the Leafs.

During an interview between periods of Saturday's game against WInnipeg, Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke acknowledged that goaltender James Reimer can be better than he has shown, but was clear to point out the team's many other faults. "He's given us some real good games and he's given us some games that aren't as sparkling as when he came up (last season)," Burke said. "I think he's been good. I just think he can be better." Burke is correct in pointing out that Reimer hasn't been as good as last season, as his statistics are less impressive across the board, however he's appears entrenched as the team's number one goaltender for the time being.

Look for James Reimer to start on Saturday despite his recent struggles. Reimer has allowed three or more goals in each of his last three starts. "He's going to have every reason to have his home game tomorrow night," Leafs coach Ron Wilson said. "I thought about (sitting him), but it wouldn't be fair to him. The player would always take that the wrong way and he wants to play in this game. He's probably marked that himself at the beginning of the season. I'm not going to take that opportunity away from just about any player."

James Reimer didn't have the bounce back game he was looking for in Thursday's overtime loss in Carolina. He made 30 saves on 34 shots after being pulled from Tuesday's match versus Florida. Reimer's record fell to 7-3-4 on the season with the defeat. Toronto squandered a two-goal lead with about half a period to go before surrendering the game-winning tally in overtime on a Carolina power play.
