Virtanen won't play Saturday night against the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
This situation has healthy scratch written all over it, as Virtanen's only posted one point over the last seven games and the Canucks will welcome Loui Eriksson (knee) back into the lineup after a long injury layoff. There's barely any fantasy value to be had with the former, as Virtanen's only converted on 7.7 of his shots and he's only averaging 9:44 of ice time.

Virtanen picked up an assist in Tuesday's win over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Virtanen had been held pointless in his last five games, so it's good to see him back on the scoresheet. There's reason to think he'll keep producing, as he's currently skating with the Sedin twins and the two veterans turned in arguably their best showing of the season Tuesday. Virtnaen does have quality fantasy potential, but the 7:19 of ice time he logged against the Flames will make him unappealing in most fantasy leagues. Keep an eye on him, however, as there's potential for him to rack up a decent amount of goals if he sticks in the top-six.

Virtanen scored the game's only goal Tuesday against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
The goal came in the third period after Virtanen followed up on his own rebound and sniped a shot past goaltender Devan Dubnyk. While he isn't playing on the power play, Virtanen's top-line role alongside the Sedin twins makes him an intriguing fantasy option. He's picked up all three of his points this season over his last three games, so if he sticks on the top line, there's no reason he can't keep producing at a rate that at least makes him worth a look in some deeper formats.

Virtanen scored his first goal of the season and fired eight shots on goal in Sunday's win over the Red Wings.
EDGE Analysis
Virtanen has points in back-to-back games after being held off the scoresheet in his first six contests. He hasn't been seeing very many minutes, but Virtanen did skate on the top line with the Sedin twins Sunday and looked dominant. He doesn't offer much fantasy-wise right now, but a potential lethal combination of goal-scoring and strong hits totals makes him worth keeping an eye on in deeper fantasy leagues.

Virtanen is in the lineup for Saturday's season opener against the Oilers, according to Rick Dhaliwal of Sportsnet 650.
EDGE Analysis
In a surprise turn of events, Virtanen will slot in on a line with Sam Gagner and Alex Burmistrov, while rising young forward Brock Boeser will be scratched. Virtanen impressed during the preseason, scoring four times and recording six points in six games. The Canucks could definitely use his speed and size against a very fast Oilers team loaded with weapons such as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The 21-year-old is yet to stick at the NHL level, but if can land a bottom-six role with Vancouver, he could be a decent depth scorer and a reliable source of PIM.

Virtanen scored a goal, dished out five hits and fired two shots on goal during Saturday's matchup with the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
Virtanen is looking to make the Canucks' roster for the upcoming season, and he did his best to make an impression Saturday. Still, it's going to be an uphill battle, especially with the September signing of Thomas Vanek and top-prospect Brock Boeser. Either way, he'll likely find some big league ice time this season, but not enough to become a serious fantasy contributor.

Virtanen was reassigned to AHL Utica on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Virtanen was a healthy scratch in the Canucks' last two contests and will head back to the minors for now. Through 10 NHL games this year, the 20-year-old has managed just one assist and 13 shots on goal. The winger's demotion could be temporary unless the team is preparing to take Jayson Megna (undisclosed) off injured reserve or promote a different minor leaguer as they are below the 23-man roster limit.

Virtanen was recalled on Sunday by Vancouver.
EDGE Analysis
With three wingers on the IR, the Canucks needed some depth, and Virtanen will provide it. In 10 games in the NHL this year, the 20-year-old only has one assist, so don't look to him for an offensive explosion.

Virtanen was sent down to the minors Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Virtanen was a healthy scratch for the Canucks' last two matchups, so it should come as no surprise the team decided to send him back to AHL Utica. Even when he has been in the lineup, the 20-year-old has struggled, as he's managed to tally just one assist in 10 appearances. The winger's reassignment could also be an indication that either Jayson Megna (undisclosed) or Jannik Hansen (undisclosed) is ready to be taken off injured reserve.

Virtanen was a healthy scratch for Monday's game against the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
The 2014 sixth overall pick has just a single point in 10 games this season while averaging 10:08 of ice time, so it's not surprising to see him take a trip to the press box. Virtanen is still just 20 and shouldn't be expected to immediately flourish at the NHL level, but given his pedigree and the fact he managed just 13 points in 55 games last season, owners are likely getting a little testy with him at this point.
