Virtanen skated just 9:18 and was held without a point in his NHL debut Tuesday against the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
The sixth overall pick in the 2014 draft, Virtanen got his first crack at NHL action Tuesday. Despite his endless potential, Virtanen was used scarcely and will likely be eased into his bottom-six role. He projects more as a top-six power forward, but likely won't get that kind of opportunity out of the gate. The fact that Virtanen is getting a taste at the next level is exciting for his owners in dynasty formats, but he offers little to zero upside in standard leagues.

Virtanen will make his NHL debut Tuesday against the Kings, Sportsnet's Dan Murphy reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 19-year-old former first-round pick will likely slot in as a bottom-six forward in his first ever NHL tilt. Virtanen definitely has some offensive upside, as he managed to tally 52 points (21 goals, 31 assists) in just 50 games with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL last season.

Virtanen (shoulder) has two goals and five points over his first four games with WHL Calgary.
Virtanen's season got off to a delayed start after the winger underwent surgery on his torn labrum in May, but he looks to be back at full health since returning to his junior squad. It shouldn't take long for the 2014 first-round draft choice to establish himself as one of the premier prospects in Vancouver's system, if he's not already at the top of the list.

Jake Virtanen has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
Virtanen was taken with the sixth overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He had 45 goals, 71 points, and 100 penalty minutes even though he spent half the season playing through a torn labrum. He underwent surgery in May and isn't expected to be ready to play until mid-October.
