Jacob Josefson is "probably four to eight weeks away" from returning from a fractured clavicle, according to New Jersey bench boss Pete DeBoer. "I just spoke to Lou (Lamoriello) about him the other day," DeBoer said. "I think he's eight weeks from surgery now. It was a pretty significant injury. Not season-ending, but I see him in the gym now on a daily basis. He's doing weights. He hasn't hit the ice yet, but he's coming along." Josefson hasn't played since Oct. 21.

Jacob Josefson has undergone surgery on his fractured right clavicle. This was a bad injury for the Devils who are already without Travis Zajac. Josefson is expected to be out three to four months.

Jacob Josefson is back between Ilya Kovalchuk and Nick Palmieri in Sunday's practice. The move could provide a significant boost to Josefson's fantasy value if he keeps the job alongside Kovalchuk. The only line that remains intact in Sunday's practice after getting shutout by the Flyers yesterday is the Parise-Elias-Sykora combination.

Jacob Josefson is looking good early into camp to starting this campaign as Ilya Kovalchuk's center. "We've got some combinations we're looking at," coach Pete DeBoer said. "I think I'd like to keep [Patrik] Elias and [Zach] Parise together. Josefson and Kovalchuk look pretty good together. Those are my initial thoughts. I'm seeing some chemistry. But that's subject to change." Josefson is being granted a tremendous opportunity to seize a top-six forward spot with Travis Zajac sidelined for at least the first month and a half of 2011-12 with a torn left Achilles tendon. This could provide a significant boost to his fantasy value if he earns the job. Rugged forward David Clarkson rounded out the trio with Josefson and Kovalchuk.
